From Our Pastor:From Our Pastor:This Sunday, as Catholic Schools Week begins, we hear Jesus preach “the Kingdom of

Heaven is at hand” and that Saints Peter, Andrew, James and John leave their nets, their livelihood as fishermen, to follow Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:12-23) Jesus’ invitation to follow Him was direct and simple, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men” From the Scriptures, we get little hint about where they were going or exactly what was in store for them The only promise from Jesus at that point was “I will make you fishers of men” Nonetheless, the brothers didn’t hesitate Only one thing mattered – to follow Jesus Christ, the Only Savior of the world Like the apostles, by God’s grace, we at Saint Clement Catholic School are striving to follow Him and to teach all the children the infinite value of following Jesus Christ, of being His disciples

The call of the apostles is a model of discipleship for all of us at Saint Clement Parish, for all Christians God calls each of us in various vocations (single, married, religious, priest) to follow Him and to invite others to know, love and serve Jesus Christ by sharing the Good News of His love and mercy, of His Passion, death and Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven, that He has conquered sin and death and wrought for us Life Eternal in Heaven Indeed, God requires His disciples to follow Him, to strive by His grace to live our life in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, to turn away from sin, pride and selfishness and turn to God and His call to live the virtues of faith, hope and love, to know, love and serve Him, to live in the constant light of His Presence, “for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” His light grows brighter as we become more familiar with His Holy Scriptures, frequent the Sacraments, pray, read the Catechism, follow the Church’s teaching, and become more aware of His sanctifying presence at every moment

As disciples of Christ, may we join in prayer during Catholic Schools Week that begins this Sunday, January 26, thanking God for our Saint Clement Catholic Parish (church and school) Let us pray for all our pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade students, for all the faculty, staff and volunteers, that we keep striving to follow Jesus, to live the virtues of faith, hope and love If you would like your children to attend our Catholic school, we will make every effort to help that happen Let’s continue to pray for all of God’s children, born and pre-born, and their right to be alive and follow Jesus Christ, to live life to the full, for all people to respect, defend and be grateful for God’s gift of life, and for healing and conversion for those who disrespect His gift of life And may our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bring us all to Eternal Life in Heaven

With peace and prayers in Christ,Fr. William

PLEASE NOTE! Please look for your contribution statement on the tables in the entrances of the church

this weekend, January 25-26 Every registered family will receive an envelope Please only take your family’s envelope However, we would appreciate your assistance in spreading the word so that your family, friends and neighbors receive their envelope and reduce our cost to mail them Contact Katie at the parish office (723-4990) if your envelope is missing, you would like a detailed statement or have any questions

SAINT CLEMENT SCHOOL

ADULT ED: POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVIMuch has been made of Netflix’s movie, “The Two Popes” which

looks at the pontificates of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, and their relationship While many have given high praise for the film, others, like Bishop Robert Barron, find fault in the portrayal of both Popes, especially that of Pope Benedict XVI See his review of the film in a recent Catholic Herald article, or by going to wordonfireorg In a nutshell, the caricature of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as portrayed in the film is a far cry from the reality of the brilliance of this holy man of faith, and like many movies, some of the events in the film never actually happened

With this in mind, we are offering “Benedict XVI: The Pope Emeritus” This new documentary gives a brief glimpse into the remarkable life of Pope Benedict XVI (Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger) as a prolific author, theologian, defender of the faith, collaborator of St John Paul II and his surprising resignation of the pontificate at age 86 We will view “Benedict XVI: The Emeritus Pope” on Wednesday, January 29, after the 8:15 am Mass in the parish office meeting room All are welcome You can also view this documentary at FORMEDorg

SAVE THE DATE!Men of the Parish, mark this down! We will be hosting a Men’s

Retreat on Saturday, March 7, beginning in the morning and running until mid-afternoon It will be a day of inspirational speakers, private reflection, prayer and fellowship More details will be forthcoming in future bulletins, so get this on your calendar today!

FAMILY PROMISE: UPDATE FROM OUR HOST WEEK!

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make our host week a smooth and important one for the family we hosted Last Sunday, before they moved to the next host church, the mom mentioned that she was so grateful for all that we did for her and her kids while they were with us, and how we went out of our way to help them Know that all our efforts, whether it be food prep, serving meals, doing fellowship or staying overnight with guests, is making a big difference in the lives of families experiencing homelessness Thank you again for working together as the Body of Christ at St Clement Parish, bringing His care, compassion and love to families with children in need Our next host week will be March 15-22

THANK YOU!!!Greetings from Milwaukee! Because of my 2 months in rehab, due

to my 2 falls causing a compression fracture and a pelvic fracture, I did not get any Christmas cards or letters sent out this year However, all your cards, family pictures, and messages were greatly appreciated I’m happy to be back in my apartment and I’m asking God to send you all many blessings throughout the New Year
