sustainable energy futures. This overview helps to prepare and guide students as they

    continue their further studies.

    2. Nonrenewable Energy TechnologyThis course expands students' general understanding of fossil fuels through an in-depth

study of the technological infrastructure used to maintain the global nonrenewable

supply chain, from ground extraction to refinement and distribution. The geographic

distribution of fossil fuel reserves, refineries, pipelines, and shipping infrastructures will

be taught, particularly with regard to their implications for world energy geopolitics.

Topics in geology will be incorporated to examine technologies of fossil fuel exploration

    5. Science of Energy Generation

This course focuses on mechanisms of energy conversion: the application of broader

topics such as physics, engineering, and chemistry in the energy sector. There are twofoci in this course: properties of fuels and systems efficiency. The first focus is

dedicated to the understanding of the energy-generating properties of fuel sources.

The energy efficiency of each of the fuel sources will be discussed in detail so that

students will be able to take this knowledge and apply it to the economics of power

generation. The second focus of the course will take what students have learned about

these fuels and allow them to apply it to power generation systems. Students will begin

by mapping the technology used to exploit a fuels thermal and kinetic properties to

produce electricity, covering the cycle of power generation in different types of power

    plants.

    6.Energy Distribution

This course explores the technology for the storage and transportation of electricity as

well as the infrastructure needed to transport energy resources between producers and

consumers. Students will first learn the mechanism of energy storage and electrical

distribution, building upon their knowledge of energy generation for different types of

fuel. Students will also examine the potential for smart grid technology. From this study

of power grid technology, students will examine energy intensity in utilities as well as

energy-intensive sectors of national and international economics. The energy intensity

of different nations will be examined across their economies through predictive models

    of growth.

    Elective Subjects

    12. Project Management for Energy Enterprises

The course will focus on the art of Project management especially for Energy enterprises.

It will cover topics like examination of life cycle of the product, designing and

implementation of project process. Project costing, budgeting, human recourse, communication and time management are some of the aspects dealt in the course.

    13. Project work

A project work is a study that allows a practical application of skills and knowledge.

Students work directly one-on-one with a Specialized Project Professor to develop their

research topic or industry-related project. By specifying a particular area of expertise and

developing their own body of research on that particular topic, students will gain real-world

experience in an energy or environmental sector of their choice. The Specialized Project is

not like an internship, however, as it requires accomplishing certain self-specified goals

rather than those of an organization or firm. Instead, a student can choose to perform a

research paper or hands-on experiment on any energy or environment-related

subjecti.e.in the area of solar, hydro, biofuels, or wind energy, environmental impacts,

climate change, national energy policies, etc.

Students will then work with the professor, to whom they will give updates and from whom

they will receive feedback as they continue their experiment and/or thesis project. The

process will conclude with a final presentation, as a demonstration of their experiences

and results. Students who excel within the Specialized Project will graduate with an

improved idea of the specific sector they would like to enter. Students can also work with,

where appropriate, a range of companies and agencies when developing and performinga Specialized Project that is particularly technical in nature.

The ultimate goal is for students to explore a particular and detailed self-specified subject

in the arena of energy and environment, and either conduct timely research or an

innovative experiment that might give them further insight into the specific field they would

    like to enter upon graduation.

One of the most unique aspects of the Energy Technology and Policy

Program. Mentorship is a proven learning enhancement technique that will help guide students towards

prospective career paths in clean energy applications by linking them with skilled experts in the

    professional world.

    program is our Corporate Mentorship

This course constitutes the solutions component of the Graduate Certificate program.

Students will be able to select Topics they feel are relevant to advancing the development

of cleaner energy technologies and policies and will choose a firm or agency with which to

pursue their research. Over the course of one semester, the student will work with an

organization partner to analyze energy-related problems within the industry or agency anddevelop solutions to them. Students will not be required to work on-site with their

organization partner, but will be graded by a supervisor in the organization partner upon

completion of their project. This course provides students with the professional experience

to analyze problems and develop solutions to them that will work in a professional

    environment.

    Industry Project

Our mentorship coordinators will connect students with a mentorship organization. The

mentorship organization will then assign students to one of their employees to serve as a

students mentor. We envision a learning methodology in which the mentor will become like a

Big Brother to the student mentee. Mentors and mentees will be in contact via phone and

email, and in person whenever possible through face-to-face appointments. The mentors and

mentees will first meet at our Meet-and- Greet Session prior to the beginning of an academic

year. This will help ensure mentees academic success at College of Energy, Environment &

Sustainability, as well as give them invaluable access to the insider view of the corporate

    structure.
