PEACE & TRANQUILLITY

Cambrian Cruisers was established in 1988 by Ruth and Peter Griffiths. I amJonathan their younger son and from the very beginning, at the age of twelve Iwas an eager helper, only too keen to show off my boat handling skills, sometimes with embarrassing consequences !! Twenty years on I have now takenover the business and run it with my partner Camilla. Being involved from thebeginning I have learned how important it is to provide the committed andprofessional service our guests deserve.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our boats, they are clean, modern, reliableand well equipped.

We look forward to welcoming you to this magnificent part of Britain toexperience this unique and unforgettable holiday along the Mon and Brec Canal.

AN AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY

WILDLIFE, FLORA & FAUNA

The area abounds with all types of interestingplants, trees, wildlife, and especially birds. Onecustomer spotted over 50 types of birds in oneweek. Cormorant and Red Kite are frequentlyspotted whirling overhead at our marina, plus therippling trill of the curlew - buzzards are almostmundane, using their favourite fence posts aslook outs, and kingfisher, with their shimmeringblue backs, are often spotted just ahead of yourboat, poised ready to fish. The giant redwood treein Llangattock has an amazing trunk girth, -seeing is believing!

“We just want to thank you for our fun-filledholiday - lovely scenery - plenty of wildlife - metlots of nice people” R&C Hitchings, Glos.

Situated in the Brecon Beacons, one of Britain'slesser known National Parks, the Mon and BrecCanal is a jewel of a waterway in an area ofoutstanding natural beauty. Every meander of thecanal reveals another incredible vista.

"What a fantastic holiday, fantastic service anda fantastic canal! I think we are in love with the“Mon & Brec". See you in July!

Unlike other canals the Mon and Brec remainsunspoiled by the modern world. The canal is nevercrowded, even at the height of summer and offersa very relaxing and peaceful holiday experience.Canal boating offers a very slow relaxing holidayand is ideal for relieving the stresses of modernday life.

‘ ’ The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (Monand Brec for short) is arguably the mostbeautiful and unspoiled canal in Britain and islocated within the beautiful Brecon BeaconsNational Park. The canal is 35 miles long andruns from Brecon in the north, down the UskValley, to just south of Pontypool. It has sixlocks for you to enjoy operating, one on theway up to Brecon, and the others at thelovely and secluded stretch leading downinto Llangynidr.

There are lift bridges for you to wind up anddown, and you can even make the traffic stopto give way to canal boats, when you operatethe electric lift bridge in Talybont on Usk!The canal is surrounded by the mostbeautiful scenery and you can wake up witha new view everyday.

There are many good pubs along the wayand lots of Interesting villages to explore. The industrial heritage of the canal is stillvisible in many places with the remains of thelime kilns and old tramways that broughtcoal, iron and limestone down from thesurrounding hills. In our complimentary canalguide book you will find short walks thatallow you to explore the surrounding area.

EASE OF NAVIGATION

CHOOSE FROM THESE TYPES OF STERN DECK

Our narrow boat fleet is the only one on the Mon and Brec Canal able to offer a choice of

stern- deck types.

Semi-Trad - this style of boat has a large rear deck partially surrounded by the extension of the cabin-sides.

There is a large seat where the crew can sit. This provides plenty of space for four people to be together

whilst cruising, and the cabin sides provide some shelter should the weather be wet or windy.

Cruiser - this style has the same size rear deck as the semi-trad but is open with a guardrail around it. The

guardrail can be used as a perch to sit on whilst cruising.

Cruiser-Plus - Nerys, Bronwen and Delyth offer an unusual style of rear deck that is basically a cruiser stern

but with a semi-trad style walkway forward on one side of the boat (above the foot of the rear bed). This

arrangement provides even more outside space for the crew.

Our boats are specifically designed to operate on the Mon and Brec Canal and are easy to handle. During

our comprehensive hand-over procedure we demonstrate how everything operates on the boat and

explain the principles of boat handling. One of our experienced hand-over team will come with you for a

short cruise to ensure that you are able to handle the boat with confidence before we bid you farewell to

enjoy your relaxing holiday afloat. We also place a comprehensive boat manual on board, and this tells

you all about your boat and her equipment.

You can rest assured in the knowledge that should you need our help during your holiday, we are never

far away and we provide a 24 hour telephone number for you to contact us for any assistance that you

may require.

"It was very exciting to learn new things like how to look after a boat properly, how

to drive it and how to open and close the bridges and locks." A Price, Swansea‘ ’“Your courtesy throughout, especially when we got into difficulties with the horsehair

netting, was exemplary and contributed to our sense of security and well being”. J Miller, Surrey‘ ’Semi-traditional Cruiser Cruiser - Plus
