Narrowboat Invicta A fine example of a boat built at Les Allen’s famous yard at Valencia Wharf, Oldbury. Of the prized boats built by Allen’s, Invicta has a particularly excellent pedigree. She was built and fitted out at Allen’s by the yard’s shell builder, John Horton together with his brother Jim, who lived aboard the boat at Valencia Wharf until recently. The quality of the joinery and the classic BCN lines of the hull are coupled with excellent living space and a lovingly maintained vintage Lister HR3 diesel. The technical side is simple but effective - a 240v system fed by a 1kW inverter and a land line, heating from a Squirrel solid fuel stove with a back boiler circulating heat throughout the boat via large bore copper pipework. The aft cabin contains a solid fuel range in the style of the working boats together with a large amount of full height cupboard space. A classic narrowboat at a competitive price.
