Canal House Wharf Narrowboat Project A community narrowboat project with two boats available for hire and over-night residential stays Located in the City Centre on the Nottingham Canal, we offer half day, full day, residential and evening (summertime only) trips for groups of up to 24 people to experience their environment from our two 70ft narrowboats, Megan and Tinkers Leen, both staffed by our highly experienced skippers. The project began over 30 years ago, back in 1974, and has established itself as one of the most respected community boat projects in the country. We offer a safe, accessible programme, with one boat fitted with a hydraulic lift to enable access for a variety of people including wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. We aim to provide a waterways experience including boat helming, working the canal's locks, water safety and a general taster of waterways life. All of our trips with young people will offer new experiences and learning outcomes for them. Half‐day and whole day trips on the Nottingham Canal and River Trent can include: Team Building for Groups and Corporate Enterprises Exploration of the Natural Environment and Conservation Work Exploration of the Built Environment Local History and Geography Art & Photography Adventure Activities Teamwork and Skills in Crewing a Boat Evening trips are also possible in the summer months. Two day, three day and six day residential trips for the full waterways experience can include: Boat Handling Lock Working Waterways Safety Independent and Shared Living Skills Team Building History, Geography, Art & Photography Field Trips The Narrowboat Project is also an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme for Gold residentials. Work on board as a crew member gaining your "Community Crew Course" and "Boat Handling Skills" certificates endorsed by the National Community Boating Association (NCBA). Skills learnt will include boat handling, lock working, waterways safety and a general taster of waterways life all set in an informal and relaxed environment. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop confidence, build new relationships, work as part of a team, develop communication skills, show initiative and enjoy exciting new challenges overseen by experienced and qualified skippers. The centre at Canal House Wharf includes a small IT‐equipped classroom and has easy access to the train and bus stations and tram terminus as well as the Nottingham Castle and Brewhouse Yard Museums. It is also possible to book one or both boats as part of a joint package of adventure activities at The Arches Adventure Base or Colwick Park Adventure Centre. We are able to drop off and pick up groups at both of these centres, which can make for an exciting way of travelling to them and as our boats are in the City Centre getting to us couldn't be easier!

Terms and Conditions Thank you for your recent booking. The information within this pack aims to confirm the key things that you need to know regarding your booking, including dates, times, costs and guidance regarding consent and our Terms & Conditions. What Happens Next? Now that you have confirmed your booking, we shall enter it in our database and as such we will allocate the appropriate staff member(s) and resources. This means, by receiving this pack, we are acknowledging your booking and on the specified dates, we will provide the aforementioned activities and necessary equipment, for the numbers and price agreed. What You Need To Do Note that your Invoice is not contained within this booking information. It will be generated by our finance section and will follow approximately 1 week after the booking pack. Upon receipt of the invoice can you please ensure payment is made a minimum of two weeks prior to the session(s). (Payment can only be made by cheque made payable to Nottingham City Council, or for City Council groups by Departmental Transfer, for this we need your budget code & budget holders signature. Non-payment 2 weeks prior to your activity session may result in cancellation of your booking. We require at least 14 full days notice for cancellation or to reschedule sessions. Cancellations or attempts to reschedule after this period will not receive a refund. Forms & payments must be sent to the address given on the invoice. Ensure the completion of the Parental/Guardian Consent Forms for your group. This completed consent form must be presented to the staff member at the first session. For a course of sessions these forms will be held on record for the duration of the program. In order to avoid disappointment & unnecessary delays, ensure that all young people attending the session have fully completed consent forms; without them, young people will not be able to take part in any activity. Most importantly ensure that consent forms are signed, relevant dates & activities are completed. Read our code of practice & familiarise yourself with the things we expect from you & your group, especially your responsibility to be present throughout the running of the activities & at breaks to provide pastoral care & remain responsible for behavior, in a manner which supports the activity leader. Due to nature & venue of the activities all activity sessions, are subject to change at the discretion of the Adventure Activity Team staff. This will be due to things beyond their control i.e. weather conditions, river levels etc. Please make sure you provide contact details that will be suitable for the day prior to your activity and the day that your booking is scheduled to take place, such as a mobile contact telephone number. Finally, don’t forget to remind all members of your group to bring the following:

• Spare Clothes • Swimming Wear (if taking part in a water based activity) • Towel • Old Trainers (that you don’t mind getting wet!) • Food & Drink

We look forward to seeing you & your group!
