CAUSLEY RETAIN THE HOUSE CUP! It may have been the strangest year in all of our lives but it was nice to end it with some familiarity—
Causley have retained the house cup! Pictured above are our Year 11 House Captains, Jasmine Bradley
and Theo Hosking along with Mr Daymond. Normally there is a whole school assembly on the final day
in which the winners are revealed, however trying to squeeze 1500 people in to the Games Hall goes
slightly against social-distancing guidelines! The assembly was instead pre-recorded and each tutor
group watched it in their own room. Jasmine and Theo, along with the 6 other House Captains, had to
record a winning celebration and then only the winning house got used in the video—thankfully it was
ours. The reason we won this year has been down to two key areas—our high levels of praise and high
percentage of attendance. As you can see below our praise totals were the highest and each tutor group
has worked hard to increase their own attendance. Our house focus was on 9PJM in the last half-term
and they rose to the challenge by increasing their tutor group attendance from 86% to over 90%. Stu-
dents in 9PJM who increased or maintained their attendance were en-
tered in to a draw for book vouchers— the winners being Tobey and
Francesca. Here’s to more success in a better 2021!

CAUSLEY CHRISTMAS CHARITY EVENT
A big thank you to every-
one in Causley who sub-
mitted goods for our Caus-
ley Christmas Challenge.
Tutor groups were chal-
lenged to collect as many
items as possible to help
go towards Christmas
hampers for the local com-
munity.
We collected over 400
items with the most com-
ing from 10JJA (104).
They received the prize of
a Wonderful Warburton
hamper which they shared
together just before we
broke up for Christmas
(picture on next page).
A big welcome to our Year 7 tutor groups this year—7ELG, 7RRU and 7PRE. This is the
first time any house has had three tutor groups in one year and I’m very pleased with how
they’ve settled in. They seem a great bunch and I’m looking forward to when they can do
many of the extra activities that come with Launceston College. However, Mr Reynolds is
leaving at Christmas so 7PRE will become 7JP in January 2021.
Mr Parker is the new tutor for
7JP!
10JJA were the winners of a Wonderful Warburton Hamper as they collected over 100
items for Launceston Foodbank—Well done everyone and thank you for your efforts.
Have you got your house colours? You can get them by: Having no sanctions in a year; Having 100%
attendance in a year; Leading your tutor group in praise each year; Being one of the 2 nominees cho-
sen by your tutor each term; Being nominated by the house office. Below are the winners from Years
7-10 in the first term, each of whom was nominated either by their tutor or by the house office.
MEET THE TEACHER! Each issue we will ask a series of questions to a member of the Causley Team. As this is
his only chance, Mr Reynolds has been answering our questions.
What would you be if you weren't a teacher? I would probably would have continued
my career as a computer hacker (completely legal).
Do you have any hobbies? I love to take on engineering challenges, for example my ping pong cannon, to fire a
ping pong ball faster than the speed of sound.
What is your favourite film? Dawn of the dead - but anything with zombies I enjoy.
Do you have a favourite band or musician? I seem to collect random songs. Anything I like I tend to throw into a
playlist. From listening to Marilyn Manson, to Gioacchino Rossini.
An interesting fact about you.... I have won a National championship 3 times in a row, taking me to Wembley and
the NEC.
What was your favourite subject when you were at school? Mathematics and physics. As I have always been obsessed with the Apollo missions.
and your least favourite subject? Sewing & home economics - my hands are too big for needle work.
Do you have any fears or phobias? Being 6”4 I have a fear of small spaces
Do you have any pet hates? I don’t hate any of my pets, but seriously metal crabs; don’t as me why.
Choose a celebrity or character which you most identify with? Jonny Wilkinson, mainly for the mantra the
harder you work the more likely you are to succeed.
Who has been the most inspirational person in your life so far? The Roman philosopher Seneca for his advice
on happiness.
What has been your biggest achievement so far? Keeping secret my Invention for a cheap and safe way to time travel!
POPPY APPEAL It’s good to see our Year 7 tutor reps getting involved with life at the College.
Darwin, Maisie and Molly were part of the team of Causley students who raised
£180 for the Poppy Appeal—a fantastic effort in the circumstances!
