Bringing Scripture to life for all ages

Imagine how Mary felt at the birth of Jesus: excited, awed, frightened. Deep faith was her light in the darkness, for Jesus was born during the night of the year when darkness is the longest. Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought light into the darkness surrounding the heart of those living in poverty bringing them the real, lasting, and deep joy of Christmas.

St. Vincent De Paul Society News :

Christmas 2017 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Rejoice! The weeks of Advent waiting are over, and Christ is born! We rejoice in our Savior’s birth—remembering the great gift of faith He has given us through the mystery of His incarnation and the saving power

of His death and resurrection. Each year, the people of our archdiocese have been asked to make a special gift on Christmas Day to support our seminarians at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. The men of our seminary, who have responded to Christ's call to follow Him, are truly a gift to the Church and to the Archdiocese of St. Louis. It is these men who will bring the faith given to us by Christ 2000 years ago to future generations here in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. I ask you, once again, to pray for vocations and for all our priests and seminarians. I also ask you to be generous in your donation to the Christmas Day collection, which helps pay the day-to-day expenses and maintenance of our seminary. Please be assured of my prayers for you during the season of Christmas. May the Lord of life come into your hearts and homes in a special way during this holy time of year. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson Archbishop of St. Louis

The shepherds said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” Luke 2:15

We come together as God’s People, to celebrate Christ’s birth that took place so long ago, to give praise and thanks to God our Father who sent His Son to be our Savior. Thank you for joining us here at St. Simon the Apostle parish, whether you are a long-time parishioner, coming back to your home parish of St. Simon’s with your family, or visiting our parish for the first time. Welcome to everyone, and Merry Christmas! Sincerely, Fr. Brad and Fr. Tom

Parish Stewardship of Treasure :

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! –Fourth Sunday of Advent- Surrender to God (Merry Christmas) Ecce ancilla Domini. Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum. “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). This is one of the most beautiful lines in Scripture. It conveys to us the total surrender and power of obedience to God’s will in our lives. Because of Mary’s fiat, the Savior entered the world to save us from our sins and to bring us back to God. As we celebrate Christmas tomorrow, let us do so in the spirit of joy, welcoming the humble Christ-child into our hearts once more and asking Him to conform our hearts to His most sacred heart. In this joyful time, let us show love, kindness, and mercy to our loved ones who have fallen away and never lose hope in their return home. The angel Gabriel tells us, “For nothing will be impossible for God” (Luke 1:37). May God bless you and your family this Christmas! Venite adoremus Dominum! archstl.org/dynamic

December 24, 2017 - 4th Sunday of Advent “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!”- LUKE 1:28 Faith is a gift from God. Take time in silence and thank Him for all the gifts He has given you. Try to set aside any anger or resentment you have and really open your heart to receive the gift of God’s mercy and forgiveness. We can’t give what we don’t have. We need to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness first before we can give it to others.
