June 2, 2019 Seventh Sunday of Easter Prayer for others

Reading I Acts 7:55-60 (Stephen’s martyrdom)

Reading II Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20 (blessed are

those who follow the Lamb)

Gospel John 17:20-26 (prayer for all believers)

Key Passage Jesus prayed, “I pray not only for them, but

also for those who will believe in me through their word, so

that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in

you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe

that you sent me.” (John 18:20-21)

Catechists Needed As we make plans to register our students for the Religious

Ed program beginning in September, we are in need of

volunteer catechists. Right now teachers are needed for

grades 5, 7, 8, and one teacher for grades 10-12. We did not

have enough teachers last year so we had to combine several

classes; I hope to not have to do so again. Please take some

time to pray about this, and if you find yourself being pulled

to teach even if you don’t think you can, contact Nora

Valovage at the parish office. As we all know, “God doesn’t

call the qualified, He qualifies the called.”

FROM THE PASTORAL COUNCIL

Please join us for an informal discussion on Safety and

Security for places of worship, June 26th at 6:30pm, in Our

Lady’s social hall. We will talk about information received

from the South Central Task Force Security workshop.

Topics will include parish event planning, building safety and

security, and active shooter information. Please call the

parish office by June 21st if you plan to attend. Thank you.

Evangelization Prayer & Challenges For June

By: Jim Gontis

If God is Love, and if Jesus is God, and if Jesus instituted

the Catholic Church, would it not stand to reason that it

must be God's loving desire that every person would

freely choose to be Catholic?

Prayer Intention

Dear Father in Heaven, I ask You in Jesus’ Name that You

will bring about the conversion of every human being to

the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, for I know

that Jesus desires that there be “one flock and one

Shepherd”. Amen.

Evangelization Challenges for the Month of June

1) Focus on one way to become a better Catholic this

month, e.g. go to Mass more frequently, go to Confession,

read Scripture for 5 minutes each day, pray for someone

who has persecuted you or offended you.

2) Make a sacrifice for the conversion of sinners and the

salvation of souls,e.g. fast from one meal, pray an extra

Rosary, give up coffee for one morning.

3) Invite a fallen-away Catholic to go with you to Mass

and take them out to breakfast afterward.

4) If you sponsored someone for Baptism or

Confirmation, encourage the person(s) you sponsored to

practice the Faith.

Hint:

For all of these, but especially for #3's and 4, pray for

wisdom, prudence, and courage.

FORMED pick of the week

The Holy Spirit

Third Person of the Trinity

In this captivating presentation, Fr. Shannon Collins

discusses the essential character of the Holy Spirit

and the role the forgotten Person of the Blessed

Trinity has played since the creation of the world.

Drawing upon Scripture and tradition, Fr. Collins

explains the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and how he

works in the lives of believers. Listeners are sure to

come to a better appreciation for this “sweet guest of

our soul” who seeks to bring us closer to Christ and

eternal salvation.

Pentecost Sunday, June 9, 2019 Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, which is considered the

birthday of the Church. The second collection next

weekend will support our seminarians in their formation.

There is a flyer in today’s bulletin which shows you the

impact of your gifts when you support the Pentecost

Collection. Please take a moment and review it prior to the

second collection next weekend. Thank You.

Faith in Action! The Diocesan Summer Camp for Adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities is seeking

volunteers to assist at its residential camp, August 11-16, 2019. The camp takes place at Camp Kirchenwald in Lebanon

County and serves the needs of approximately 40 adults. The camp has been held annually for the past 33 years and is

primarily dependent on volunteer support. Last year, volunteers from parishes throughout our Diocese participated

alongside volunteers from other faith communities to help make this ministry a success. Anyone 16+ is welcome to

volunteer for full-time or part-time duties; there is a particular need for male volunteers, 18 or older, who are able to spend

the night. All volunteers are required to complete the Diocesan Clearance process and attend a brief training session prior

to helping at camp. There is no cost to volunteers; all meals, events, campground activities, etc. are included. A deadline

of June 30, 2019 for expressing volunteer interest is requested in order to facilitate planning efforts.
