Record Labels;

- Adventures in music

- will.i.am

- Interscope, which was the record label

this video was made by.

- This video creates a lot of visual

representations about Natalia, from the large

image that appears frequently in the video,

comes across that she likes money, as well as

the song is about not having enough money.

- As in the smaller video she is arguing with

her accountant, and the lyrics are “can I pay

my rent the next month” so she’s trying to

get out of it as she goes shopping a lot.

- I feel they have used this as its effective for

the audience, especially for girls, who go

shopping a lot and usually spend a lot more

than they should, maybe not to the point

where they cant pay their rent, so that is a

bit of an over exaggeration, but its allowing

the audience to get involved and relate to

the lyrics in the song.

- Visual Representations -

- From the image above, she is holding a chainsaw, whilst a

woman is pulling on her leg. This shows a part of her energy in

the video, and maybe offstage. This could connote she is quite

weird as for the fact she is playing with a chainsaw. Also showing

her style, we can tell from the way she acts in the video, rolling in

money, laying on a motor bike, has her hair on fire, that she isn’t

really afraid of what people think about her, she is confident and

this can be good for her fans and image, also linking with the song

as she has expensive things in the video, maybe showing she has

some class.

- This song has not yet been on any music channels, as the song

was only reported to be released on September 6th 2011, and was

made viewable on YouTube on 6th July 2011. However, it has been

on a Music News website, as shown on the image in the top right.

- Although the song has not been released on TV, a lot of people

have viewed it, as in the image below.

- Extend Playability/Additional Income -

- The more people view the video, the more royal

payment comes out of it, as so many people have seen

this video, and it has been shared on social networking

sites such as Facebook and Twitter, a lot more people

will see this by the time it is released on TV.

- Even though the song is not on TV, the song would be

on a channel such as MTV their songs are based

around Pop and Dance which is the genre of this song.

- These are the suggestions on the

side of the Free video on YouTube.

There are obviously links to some of

the artists other song but there are

also links to songs of the same

genre such as Tik Tok by Ke$ha and

Mr Know it all by Kelly Clarkson.

- This promotes other videos to, and

allows the audience to see a wider

range, also some of the artists on

the suggestions are of the same

record label, therefore giving the

record label bigger publicity.

- This song has already created a synergy with Will.i.am, another

famous artist who also owns the record company will.i.am. This is

a good synergy as he fits in with the song, but he promotes not

only Natalia and himself but his record company and the more

people know about this company, the more songs and other artists

they will know about and that is good income for him.

- Synergy -

- Not only is this video promoting will.i.am but it is promoting

other things, like the magazine “VOGUE” and “PRADA”.. As they

are said in the song.

- I feel that this music video is very artistic, it doesn’t really have a

story line and it is all set in one place, but it is memorable because

of the strange goings on within the video.

- To be Art -

- For example; There are many messages within this video, that

mean something in two or more ways, “you are what you wear”

twisting the phrase “you are what you eat” as if the clothes you

wear are just as important as the food you eat, also showing that

the clothes you wear, make up who you are. A meaningful

message.

- Not only Are there messages in this, but there are enigmas which

make it memorable, such as why there is a woman standing naked

rubbing a shoe all over her, and why Natalia has chosen to put her

head on a mans body and why a man is wearing lipstick?

- This creates a lot of questions and also shows the use of

technology such as computer editing and Photoshop.

- At the end, Natalia takes off her gloves

and the hand on her shoulder, as if she is

now “free” and she has taken a huge

weight off her shoulders.

- Natalia Kills – Free, is not on music channels yet so

therefore wouldn’t be on mainstream TV. This is because

the song has not yet been released in the UK.

- As this song has not yet been released, it has not been in

any featured DVD releases, however it is on sale soon to be

in an album with a few of her other songs.

- She does not have her own website so she is not on that

but she is on YouTube with two versions of her song, the

original with Will.i.am and another single with no one

else.

-Her song is available for download on iTunes, both her

single version, and the remix with Will.i.am. Both versions

available for paying and free. Legal.
