CARING FOR OUR FLAG
Caring for our flagour Red, White and our Blue.
Is something very seriousthere are things that you must do!
A flag is considered livingto be handled with great care.
It should never touch the groundfor this always beware.
If other flags are flownwith our faithful USA.
Ours will be on topmay our banners always wave!
If a flag is hanging upside downit's a symbol for distress
Our country's facing dangerour comforts may less.
A special rule appliesto fly a flag at night. It always must be lit
underneath a bright spot light.
A flag flown halfway up the polemeans flown at just half mast.It means that we are mourningsomething tragic from the past.
When the flag is raised or lowered,A salute, right hand on chest. This is how we show respectfor a nation that's the best!
It must be folded 13 timeseach fold a special thought.
With memories of our countryand battles that were fought.
If a flag begins to weatherit’s time to fly will shortly end.
We burn it in a ceremonywith good wishes we do send.
June 14 is our flag daya day to honor and to boast.
About Old Glory, the Stars and Stripesour flag we love the most!
Make every day a Flag Dayby showing your respect.
Show your love for countrywith proper etiquette!
This poem is dedicated to all of the Veterans for keeping us safe. By-Kristen Zemnickas
