example young and single, student, married with kids, between jobs, empty nest etc. Life roles refers
to the roles that an individual assumes throughout life. Life roles also evolve as one matures and

Employability Skills Portfolio (ESP):
For the next report card you need to complete the second of four steps toward
completing the ESP project.
All we need to see is the folder full of items that you will eventually organize into your
Employability Skills Portfolio. Write the items you have collected on the outside of the
folder. List each item according to the category from the checklist; Basic Skills,
Teamwork, OR Personal Management
The construction of your employability skills portfolio speaks not just to your future but
somewhat to your past as well. This project will require you to think about your
employability skills and your portfolio while you are working on your other courses. Put
a sizeable effort into this project. Also you should realize that this project is one of the
more practical assignments you will have in your school life as you need to have a
resume to apply for even a summer job. Those of you who plan to go on to post
secondary education will most likely need to have a summer job, work placements and
possibly part time work for much of the foreseeable future.
• Students should include a copy of their personal achievement listing (following page) in their ESP.
Personal Achievements

Achievements enhance your current life choices, and will benefit you in
the future. Accomplishments open doors, create opportunities, enhance
self-concept, and fulfil personal values. If your list is short what can you
do about that? Perfect attendance, get 100% on a test, build a fort for
the neighbour kids …. Set a goal and make it, join a gym….

Post-secondary educational opportunities

Postsecondary education refers to educational attainment such as an apprenticeship or trades
certificate or diploma, non-university certificate or diploma; university certificate or diploma below

It is important to think about your current courses and whether your current program will enable you
