    Create a Hanging BasketLearn to construct and care for colorful

    hanging baskets that will last throughout

    the summer. Instruction includes

    choosing appropriate plants for sun and

    shade plus how to fertilize and water the

    hanging basket you create and take home.

    Fruit TreesParticipants will graft their own fruit trees

    to plant in their home gardens. Materials

    include rootstocks, scion wood and

    grafting supplies necessary for success.

    This ancient art is much easier than it

    appears, so join in the fun while becoming

    a true horticulturist.

    Cost: Individual class $50 / $44 Members

    USU Botanical Center and learn techniques to

    capture the colors and textures of flowers.

    This 3-hour workshop will motivate partici-

    pants to get out in the garden and enjoy the

    beauty of nature. Materials will be provided.

    Art and the ArboretumWalk through the Varga Arboretum with a

    USU Extension specialist and discover the

    variety and beauty of the trees growing there.

    Chocolate Lovers NightChocolate lovers of all ages will enjoy this

    delicious event. Come learn about how

    chocolate is made and see how local

    chocolatier, Shirl Shepherd, owner of Pas

    Chocolates, turns it into creamy treats.

    Shirl will demonstrate chocolate dipping

    techniques and then you can enjoy making

    a chocolate creation of your own.

    Cost: $10 per family

    Art in the Gardens Gala: painting,photography, food, musicOne of our favorite annual events! Watch local artists as they create beauty, and then stroll

    through the gardens enjoying the serenity and beauty of live musical performances. Taste

    delicious food prepared by local chefs and enjoy garden tours led by Master Gardeners.

    Workshops:

    Noon 3 pm Hypertufa TroughsLearn how to mix and create your own hypertufa container

    to decorate. All materials provided. Participants take home their own trough.

    Class size is limited to 10 people. Cost: $60 Public / $48 Members of the Garden

    2 pm Joy Bossi, well-known radio and television personality, will teach the art of cooking

    with herbs. Cost: $15 Public / $9 Members of the Garden

    4 pm The Ogden Camera Club will teach techniques for taking better outdoor pictures.

    This is also an opportunity to take part in our 1st Photo Contest (all are welcome to

    submit a photo). The winner receives a 1-year membership to the OBG and a free

    16x20 print. Sponsors: Ogden Camera Club, Imaging Depot. Cost: $37 Public /

    June 30, 1 5 pm Location: OBG

    Baby Animal DaysBring the family to our first ever Baby

    Animal Days celebration! Meet lambs,kids, llamas, rabbits, chicks, ducklings

    and piglets all being raised by local 4-H

    members. There will be crafts to make

    or purchase, sheep shearing demonstra-

    tions, horseback rides, a putting green,

    climbing wall and miniature train rides.

    Visit our Master Gardeners to get

    answers to your gardening questions

    and learn about upcoming classes for

    children and adults. The event raises

    funds for Davis County 4-H and garden

    development at the USU Botanical

    Center.

    Cost: $5 individual / $25 family (or

    $20 with a non-perishable food item

    to donate to the food bank). $15 for

    members of the Gardens.

    learn how to make a solar oven or build a

    necklace with beads that change color in

    the sun. Cost:$10 per family

    PumpkinpaloozaBring the entire family to this free event

    and enjoy a walk through the pumpkin

    patch, find your way to the end of the

    Grass Garden Labyrinth, or have your

    face painted. There will also be childrens

    crafts to enjoy. This popular event is

    always a community favorite.
