Attention all five and six year olds! Come make new friends, play sports, and learn new skills in a supportive atmosphere designed just for you! Whether your child is a first-time or an experienced Explorer Camper, our exciting and active program will create lasting memories.

Explorer Camp (AgeS: 5 -6 )Explorer campers are placed into groups by age and are co-ed. We employ a superb and highly-trained group of instructors and group leaders to be there every step of your child’s camp experience.Campers are always accompanied by a staff group leader during the activities and breaks.

Fun Themes Each camp session features an exciting theme. Past themes have included: American Barnyard, Wild African Safari, Castles and Dragons, and Ad ventures on the High Seas.

Structure Explorer Camp is a highly structured and active camp.Campers take part in approximately eight 30-minute fun-filled activities each day, including American Red Cross swimming lessons.

Activities Campers are assigned eight activities per session, this allows them to experience a variety of different sports. To encourage learning, a camper’s activity schedule stays the same for the entire session. Care is taken to include a balance of active (e.g. soccer) and less strenuous activities (e.g. arts and crafts) throughout the day. Specialized instructors, with the support from your child’s group leader, teach the activities. Most activities take place outdoors.

Join the fun in this active outdoor day camp where campers try a variety of activities that range from swimming and soccer to lacrosse and volleyball. Blue Camp is a place where independence and personal responsibility is fostered. Campers learn to advocate for themselves, navigate their activity schedule, and have fun while receiving top level instruction from our staff. Blue camp is divided into three distinct age groups: Cubs (ages 7-8); Bears (ages 9-11) and Grizzlies (ages 12-13).

Blue Camp

Blue Camp Cubs (AgeS 7-8 )Placed into “teams” of about 12, campers are usually grouped by gender. Each team has a fun and energetic group leader who cares for the individual needs of campers and supports them in learning new skills and making friends. Specialized instructors – with support from the group leader – teach the activities.

ActivitiesCubs select between two activity tracks: Sports Track or Sports/Arts Track, and are pre-assigned activities by camp staff. Both tracks include swimming and a variety of sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. Sports/Arts track include sport, arts and crafts, and often one less strenuous activity such as nature, drama, or hip-hop.

Advanced and Girls-Only ClassesOur girls-only offerings include basketball, lacrosse, and soccer. Advanced classes, which are co-ed, include Basketball, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

ScheduleFull day Cubs 9AM - 4PM participate in the same six activities each day for the entire session. Half day Cubs 9AM - 1PM all follow Sports/Arts Track and get swimming, arts and crafts, and one sport.

Social Skills Program at Blue Camp (grAdeS: 3 -13)Strawberry Canyon Blue Camp has one-of-a-kind social skills camps for children with Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, High Functioning Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and children with similar social skills deficits. There is an application for the program to ensure the best fit between the camper’s needs and program structure. These programs are not designed for children who need one-to-one assistance or have non-compliant or aggressive behavior. For infor-mation and an application packet please contact Dr. Jennifer H. Selke at 510.642.7648, by email at: [email protected], or visit www.oski.org

Social Skills Track for Bears and Grizzlies (Completed grAdeS: 3 -7 )Campers are organized into groups of three or four campers and are assigned a specialized group leader who helps them through their day. The groups follow a daily schedule that includes minisocial skills sessions throughout the day as they are fully integrated into the camp experience. Parents of campers in this program have seen their child happy in an active environment and have noted lasting improvements and a willing-ness to try new things during the school year.

Social Skills Track for Teens (Completed grAdeS: 8 -13)This camp is for kids that have completed 8th-13th grade and who would benefit from support with social skills. This program gives youth an opportunity to learn leadership skills in the context of a camp environment. This program parallels our traditional counselor-in-training programs yet adds direct social skills support and activities designed to meet the individual’s goals.
