Burcham News… April 2019 Dear Burcham Families, We are so thankful for the Burcham Carnival success in 2018. We give families, students, parents, grandparents, community leaders, businessmen, and our staff all the credit and respectfully ask for your help as we get our 2019 Carnival ready. Last year we used some of our carnival money to purchase some more iPads and saved some to add to this years funds to increase the technology we have available for student learning. As we are approaching the end of the year, we will be having many activities and special days that you will want to be a part of. Please know that you are always welcome at Burcham and your children love seeing you at school! Take the time to spend those special days with your kids while they are small. They grow up so fast! VOLUNTEERS HELP US BLOOM! We appreciate our volunteers who have given time and labor to assist us this year. So, if you have volunteered in the workroom, classroom, tutored, done lunchroom duty, served as an Early Bird Reader, helped with picture day, Book Fair or in any other way, please come to Burcham on Friday, April 5 th at 8:30am! Volunteers will be honored at Caring Congregation with a special poem and Volunteer of the Year will be announced!! Then at 9:00am we will be having a special volunteer breakfast in the Burcham Cafeteria! NEW Pre-K Students, Kindergarten, and 1 st Grade Students ENROLL NOW! For the 2019-2020 School Year! Parents of any child who doesn’t currently attend Burcham and is 4 or 5 years old or older by Sept. 1 st , living in Weatherford School District, need to drop by the Burcham office as soon as possible. Completed packets need to be turned in to the Burcham office ASAP. Parents need to bring the child’s official birth certificate from OK State Dept. of Health, shot record, and Social Security card to us to be copied. If you want to attend Burcham PreK, enroll now to avoid being placed on a waiting list. We have very few spots left. We will be providing bus transportation to licensed daycare homes and centers after AM classes and to pickup PM students. We have been working on the 1st grade music program! Here are all of the details:

WHEN: TUESDAY, APRIL 16TH, 2019

TIME: 7:00 PM (all classes)

WHERE: PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (High School)

1500 N WASHINGTON AVE

The students will wear their classroom shirts with jeans or dark pants and comfortable shoes. Each classroom already has a class shirt that is a certain color and the teachers will bring these shirts to the program that evening. It will be easier to find your child on stage if you look for their class shirt color! The teachers will slip their shirt over the top of what the students wear that evening then take them off after the program is over. Please have your child wear a t-shirt because it will get hot on the risers. There is no need to dress up. The students will look more cohesive on stage in their class shirts and dark bottoms. Author Linda Shane will be coming to Burcham on Wednesday, April 3rd to share her book “A Home For Wingtip”. There will be an order form sent home with your student! Students need to return order forms for the books on or before April 1st. She will not have extra books to buy on-site!

Burcham Elementary Carnival is coming up on Friday, April 26th! We need all our families to plan to come and enjoy the games, activities, food, basket and quilt auctions. We will open outside booths at 5:30pm and inside booths at 6:00pm. The silent quilt auction will go on throughout the evening with bid sheets being picked up at 8:45pm. The basket auction will be at 7:30pm. All activities will wind down at 8:45pm and the carnival will close at 9:00pm.

PRE-K End of the Year Program is Tuesday, April 30th! AM Pre-K class program will begin at 6:00pm and PM Pre-K class program will begin at 7:15pm

Thanks a BUNCH Sonic for donating items for the Pre-K Sonic Day. All those who helped in the cafeteria on Birthday treat days. All those preparing baskets and quilts for the Carnival! All those parents sending items for your class baskets! 4-H for the Ladybug Release lessons! Thomas P Stafford Museum for letting our students come learn

2018-19 Yearbooks for Sale…..

Order forms for your Burcham Elementary Yearbook have been sent home. Now is the time to buy your yearbook! Yearbooks are $25.00. Our yearbook is a 96-page full color hardback publication. It will feature students and faculty members as well as many special events at all three of our Weatherford elementary schools. This year’s theme “The Greatest School” will be throughout the book and our student artists will be featured on the covers. All schools are ordering fewer books this year, so be sure and order yours soon! You can also order and pay online at Herff Jones secure website: YearbookOrderCenter.com Website may list the school as Weatherford Elementary Schools or as East Elementary.
