Coberley Named
FFA Ambassador to
State Convention
Meagan Coberley has been chosen as one of the
39-member team charged with escorting the
sponsors, dignitaries and special guests during
FFA State Convention Week in Corpus Christi,
Texas, during July. The young men and women
who fuel this program are comprised of appli-
cants from all over the state of Texas. The Am-
bassadors are the official liaison with sponsors,
special guests, and dignitaries on behalf of the
Texas FFA.
Meagan says she will serve as a “face to face”
host during the largest youth-led convention in
Texas. The competitive application process that
led to Meagan’s being chosen emphasized FFA
involvement, individual accomplishments, and
community service. She will be assigned to a
“VIP” serving as their agricultural science/FFA
host for the week. Plus, she will have the unique
opportunity of experiencing firsthand the behind
-the-scenes complexities of convention week.
Meagan says that she was told that a record
number of people applied this year by complet-
ing the application, writing an essay, and pro-
viding references. “I’m excited about getting to
be an ambassador. I’m looking forward to it,” comments Meagan. Meagan said her essay focused on the difficulties faced in the
agricultural business in this economy and how FFA gets into your blood because it’s an organization in which everyone’s main focus
is agriculture, working on the land and being with a group of people who all have the same values. She sees the FFA as a solid foun-
dation for those who aren’t always involved in other school activities. She knows also that many scholarships are available and feels
this will be an opportunity for her to network and build her re-
sume.
Executive director of the FFA Foundation, Aaron Alejandro,
says, “The generous support of the sponsors provides the fuel to
help Texas FFA provide opportunities for our members, teachers
and affiliate organizations. The Ambassadors help put a face to
the Texas FFA program for many of our sponsors.”
Mr. Rank, Meagan’s FFA chapter advisor, says that it is quite an
honor for Meagan to be named to be an ambassador by the FFA
foundation.
FFA Auction Brings Good Profit
Mr. Rank, chapter FFA advisor, says that the auction that was
held last Saturday grossed over $5,000, which “left us with a
good profit.” He said that the round wooden table with benches
brought the biggest bids.
Mr. Rank said that there are still plants for sale—mostly hanging
baskets. They are $5 each, but there are volume discounts for
buying 2 or more.
The FFA Banquet is to be scheduled during the flex time. Mr.
Rank will be contacting members with information.

Final Days of SchoolFinal Days of SchoolFinal Days of SchoolFinal Days of School————Not
only is Mrs. Tubb counting
down the days left of school
this year, but she is counting
down her final days of school
too because she will be retiring
after teaching 31 years—all
here at The Bluff. She
started teaching when 7th
grader Kaleb Brown’s and
junior Katelyn Brown’s
mother, the former Naja
Duncan, was in kindergarten.
Mrs. Tubb says she will miss
being here, but we will all miss
her very much too.
Here’s wishing you
a happy retirement,
Mrs. Tubb!
