‣ The Inner Asian and Uralic NationalResourceCenter(IAUNRC)has purchasedfortheSRIFIAS library,withsupplementalfundsfrom the US EducationDepartment, a digitalversion of the Полное собрание законовРоссийскойИмперии,Ser.1,1649‐1825(PSZ,The Complete Collection of the Laws of theRussian Empire). The Sifty volumes of thismajorsourceforthehistoryoftheEmpireareavailableonanequalnumberofCDs,andmaybe viewed on both PC and Macintoshplatforms. The quality of digitization isexcellent,allowingusersto viewthepages ofthe collectionat various resolutions withoutimagedegradation.Whilethecollectiondoesnot have built‐in search capability, we haveprintedacopyofthedetailedthematic indexwith which users may identify all lawsrelating to their interests, listed by theirofSicial identifying numbers. Extractingseparate enactments for saving as PDFs andprinting is possible . This col lectioncomplements the Wells Library microSicheversionofSeries1.

Aworking set of thecollection,onceburned,will be available for faculty and studentperusal inGoodbody 144. In addition to thelibrary’scomputer,weanticipateallowinguseof personal laptops forthispurpose.Prior tothe start of the fallsemester 2010, inquiriesabout thePSZshouldbedirectedtoProfessorEdwardJ.Lazzerini,theInstituteDirector.
