Because of you, the Storymobile reaches hundreds of children during its visits to more than 25 childcare facilities and preschools in Lycoming County. The new Storymobile will continue to bring stories and smiles to the children of our community for years to come. It’s the Perfect Giſt! Marilouise Mazzante, retired Williamsport Area High School social studies teacher, department leader, and athletic coach, will present the Feb. 5, book review on The Life of Elizabeth I by Alison Weir.

This biography tells the story of the life of the powerful personality of England’s Virgin Queen. Weir, English herself, has written much on England’s royal families, both fiction and non-fiction. In this biography, Weir follows Elizabeth’s entire life and focuses on not only her life as Queen, but also her personal life. The author closely examines the contradictions surrounding the enigmatic character of Queen Elizabeth and provides the reader with new insights into one of the most influential sovereigns in English history. Weir also examines Elizabeth’s precarious position as a ruling woman in a man’s world. Mazzante earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at

Lycoming College and began teaching in the Williamsport Area School District in 1976. During her years as a teacher, she received the WAHS Teacher of the Year Award, Lycoming College Alumnus of the Year Award, and was selected several years for “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.” Presently she volunteers as an instructor for several classes in Classroom Management at Lycoming College. In the field of athletics, Maz coached Women’s Track and Field for WAHS for twenty years; she was inducted into the West Branch Valley Sports Hall of Fame, and she is the only female coach to be inducted into the Pennsylvania Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Improve your Skills for the Digital World at Your Library

Starting in January, the James V. Brown Library will offer new programs to help you learn more about living in the digital age. On January 20, Jerry Frear, a Williamsport digital media consultant, will share his knowledge of Facebook Marketing for Your Business from 6 PM to 7:30 PM in the Lowry Room. Registration is suggested at calendar.jvbrown.edu. In February, we’ll offer a series of 4 classes called ‘Love Your Computer,’ which will cover computer basics, online shopping, using Facebook, and applying for jobs. You can register for one or as many of these sessions as you like. They will be offered on each Tuesday in February from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM in the Teen Area Computer Lab on the second floor of the Welch Childrens Wing. Full details on these programs are available at calendar.jvbrown.edu.
