At the Friday, February 3, 2017, Book Review luncheon, Fred Holland will review the book Cemetery John: The Undiscovered Mastermind of the Lindbergh Kidnapping by Robert Zorn. Bruno Richard Hauptmann was executed in 1936 for the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby, yet evidence and logic have discredited the notion that he acted alone. This mystery has gone unsolved for eighty years. Zorn examines decades of ungrounded speculation surrounding the case. Inspired by his father’s relationship with the actual accomplices, and using personal possessions and documents, never before-seen photographs, new forensic evidence and extensive research, Zorn writes a

shocking and captivating account of the crime and the original “Trial of the Century,” revealing what he claims to be the true events behind the crime. Our presenter, Fred Holland, was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He attended the University of Delaware for his B.A. degree and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA for his J.D. Holland arrived in Williamsport in 1981, and worked for several months as a law clerk for the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County. Currently, he is a partner at the local law firm of Murphy, Butterfield, & Holland, P.C. Holland is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar

Association, Williamsport/Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce, and the Kiwanis Club of Williamsport. In his spare time, Holland enjoys music, reading and tennis.

Friends of the JVBrown Library Hold Meeting The Annual Member-ship Meeting of the Friends of the JV Brown Library was held on Tuesday, December 6, at 5:15 p.m., in the Lowry Room of the Welch Family Wing of the library. The meeting was called to order by Greg Thomas, President. Members in attendance heard the annual financial reports for the full organization and for the Friends Favorites Gently Used Book Store. The chairs of each stand-ing committee reported on their activities throughout 2016. Those committees are Book Store, Governing, Membership, Sort-ing, Publicity, Mailing, Volunteer Recognition, Social Media, Special Events, Book Review Luncheon, and Book Sale.

New members were elected to the board. They are Jim Cunningham, Christine Kaiser, and Joanne O’Neill. Betsy Madsen will return for another term and Linda Morris will serve a second consecutive term. The by-laws passed last year now set a term at four years. The new officers will be Ardythe Cross, President; Chuck Featherstone, Vice-Presi-dent; Mary Beth Kibbe, Secretary; and Nancy Berkheimer, Treasurer. Six retiring board mem-bers were recognized for their contributions of time, ideas and energy over the years. They are Shirley Bittenbender, Nancy Boyer, Jim Burget, Gayle Peters-Coates, Eleanor Phillips, and Sue Wright.
