1. Shared understanding and commitment to high goals

What is the KEYS 2.0 Process?
• A deliberative process for school improvement
• Begins with introducing staff to research-based quality standards for schools
• Continues with the use of a web-based assessment survey completed by the school community to provide information on six areas of school quality that correlate with high student achievement
What happens after the survey?
• Further Analysis and Reflectionon the data– to discuss difficult issues that would otherwise
be muted– to establish priorities and making more rational
school improvement decisions
NEA’s Ongoing Support
• Creation of an infrastructure for successful administration of initiative
• Ongoing collection and analyses of data tracking the effectiveness of the KEYS initiative
• Online administration and scoring w/ statistical and narrative school & district reports
KEA’s Support• Meet with and provide introductory
seminars for school district and building facilitators
• Provide support in setting up each school for survey process
• Provide data retreat for district and building facilitators, in preparation for each site holding its own.
• Make available an organizational coach
