In the Spirit of TraditionHoliday Cocktails for Both the Rogue and Gentleman
Ah, the holiday season. Decidedly the most festive time of the year when you can
bask in the congenial warmth of family, friends, in-laws, neighbors, coworkers,
doormen…practically every person you have any sort of contact with in your day-
to-day. And after a long day of basking with all those aforementioned people, both
rogues and gentlemen alike deserve a drink. And where better to enjoy one of these
seasonal perks than Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria?
Festooned in cheery decorations, while echoing the sentiments of holiday’s past,
Peacock Alley’s storied bar can only be complemented by the likes of Frank Caiafa,
the head bartender and a New York treasure in himself. Frank’s gift to us this year?
Three of his fail-proof cocktail recipes: one for the rogue, one for the gentleman, and
one they could both agree upon.
Now, for the rogue cocktail, because you’re going to need a swift pick-me-up after
the lethargy that comes with too many Christmas cookies.

Across the Border
1 oz. Sombra Mezcal
1 oz. Av erna Amaro
1 oz. Grapefruit Juice
.25 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Fever Tree Ginger Beer Add all ingredients to highball glass (except lime and Ginger Beer).
Add ice and fill with Ginger Beer.
‘Roll’ twice back into glass.
Lime wedge, for garnish.
And now for the gentlemen and what will soon become a staple in his cocktail
repertoire.
Fezziwig’s Recline
1.5 oz. Larceny Bourbon
1 oz. Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
1 oz. Noilly Prat Sweet Vermouth
.25 oz. House-infused Cinnamon Vodka
.25 oz. St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
Add all ingredients to mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 50 rev olutions.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Orange coin, for garnish.
And finally a coc ktail they can both agree on, the Switzerland of drinks if you will.

French Quarter #3
2 oz. Louis Royer ‘Force 53’ Cognac
1.5 oz. Bordeaux Red Wine
.50 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
2 long dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
Add all ingredients to mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 50 rev olutions.Strain into chilled coc ktail glass.
Orange coin to release oils, then added for garnish.
And to quote ourselves from last year, regardless of you being a rogue or gentleman
— generously tipping your bartender is always in good taste. Happy Holidays, from
