VG Sports Ventures is organizing an Online Open Chess Tournaments in association with chess24 India for all Indian chess players, starting from 21st February.The overall tournament consists of 8 Events and the top 2 of each event will The overall tournament consists of 8 Events and the top 2 of each event will advance to the Pre Quarter-Finals of the Main tournament (Top-16). Eight Open Chess Tournaments will be staged from 21st Feb 2021. There will be a total of 8 events. Each event will be played in a Swiss format and every eventwill have individual winner.

Top 2 from each event qualify to the pre Top 2 from each event qualify to the pre Quarter-finals of the main tournament.

Pre-QF onwards matches will be broadcast ‘LIVE’ on chess24 India YouTube channel.

Prize money will be transferred to the top 16 players after the tournament.

Timing of the tournament – 7 p.m. onwards

Number of rounds – 9 to 13

Time control – 3 Min + 2 Sec (Qualifiers) 15 Min + 10 Sec (Knockout stages – Prequarters, Quarters, Semis & Finals)

Entry fees (Exclusive of 18% GST) for the tournament will be as follows: a. INR 500 per tournament b. INR 1500 for 5 tournaments c. INR 2000 for 8 tournaments (No entry fee for GM/WGM/IM/WIM)

Anti-cheating rules will be applicable.

D. Tournament Dates E. Knockout Format (Pre-QF, QF, SF and Finals)

Pre Quarter-Finals - Total of 16 Participants will play in pre-quarters. The pre-quarters will be a series of 2 games. In case the score is equal, the result will be drawn by a single Armageddon game.

Quarter Finals – The remaining 8 players will play a best of 2 games knockout series against their opponent. In case of a draw, there will be Armageddon.

Semi FinalsSemi Finals – Top 2 players in each group will play 2 games against each other and winner in each group will qualify for finals. In case of a tie between two players, there will be a single Armageddon game.

Finals – Series of 4 games to decide the Winner. In case of draw, there will be Armageddon.

Armageddon games will have a time control of 4 mins for player with Black pieces and 5 mins for player with White pieces.

Time control for the 8 Qualifiers is 3 Min + 2 Sec while for Knockout stages is 15 Min + 10 Sec.
