Broadway is returning to Miami, and we at the Arsht

Center are thrilled to welcome you back to the Ziff

Ballet Opera House for an incredible season of TonyÂŽ

Award-winning musicals. We’re excited not just

because the shows are spectacular, but also because

Broadway’s return is a welcome reminder of the life

we share in the performing arts. When the curtain

rises on opening night of Hairspray this December,

our community will take another important step

toward normalcy. It will be a joyful evening, and we

cannot wait to experience it with you. And while we

celebrate, know that your safety is our top priority.

This Broadway in Miami season continues the Arsht

Center’s commitment to bringing you the highest

caliber arts and entertainment. In addition to a new

touring production of Hairspray, the season includes the South Florida premiere of

Hadestown, the 50th anniversary production of Jesus Christ Superstar and the Miami

debuts of Dear Evan Hansen and Anastasia. You can read more about each of these

shows, along with the measures the Arsht Center has taken to make your Broadway in

Miami experience as safe as possible, on the following pages and at arshtcenter.org.

I look forward to seeing you at the Arsht Center.

A sweeping adventure!”– Time Out New York

Inspired by the beloved films, this dazzling musical transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable former aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. Anastasia features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and direction by TonyÂŽ Award winner Darko Tresnjak.

In celebration of Jesus Christ Superstar’s 50th anniversary, a new mesmerizing production comes to North America. Helmed by the acclaimed director Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) and award-winning choreographer Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom), this production won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and garnered unprecedented reviews and accolades.

With music and lyrics by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony® winners Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes “I Don’t Know How To Love Him,” “Gethsemane” and “Superstar.”

Winner of eight 2019 Tony AwardsÂŽ including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed show from celebrated singer-songwriter AnaĂŻs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin is a love story for today and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife, Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith and fear against love. Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
