“I do not think anybody could have
done a better performance, the
quality was unbeatable, maybe
better than New York Broadway. The
entire cast was superb.”
– The Addams Family audience member
Our 2017 Season of Spellbinding Musicals was a magical mix of artistic and financial successes that helped us to fulfill our mission to create unparalleled musical theatre experiences that invigorate audiences and enrich our communities. We were able to produce six spellbinding mainstage musicals: Company, Beehive, The
Addams Family, Gypsy, Trails, and Your Holiday Hit Parade, that not only exceeded our attendance goals, but also garnered three Drammy
Awards and six BroadwayWorld Portland Awards!
We introduced a spring break camp for children in grades 3-5 as a part of our continuing focus on bringing up the next generation of musical theatre lovers and supporters. Our children’s productions of Snow White and Pinocchio and our teen musical Godspell involved a total of 95 youth directly in our drama camps, workshop, and productions as well as hosting over 3,000 youth in the audiences!
Broadway Rose Theatre Company continues to receive funding from a variety of sources. In 2017, ticket sales again accounted for 57% of our income at over $1.3 million, while donors and events accounted for 43% at nearly $1 million. We gratefully welcomed two new corporate show sponsors, Bob’s Red Mill and CTA Labs in 2017.
With your support, we began 2018 in a very strong financial position with over $600,000 in our cash reserves—a 24% increase over 2017! We strive to always produce shows with the highest artistic quality, with incredible performers and designers, while we keep our ticket prices affordable and accessible to all. We are proud of our ability to do both extremely well!
On behalf of the staff and the Board of Directors, I want to thank you for supporting our 26th season of luminous musical theatre. Together we continue to create magic!
