    How We Got Here

    Section 14, Chapter 2001-43, Laws ofFlorida: Required the Department of Management Services, in

    consultation with the Governor and Legislature todevelop a proposed Classification and Compensation

    Program The Broadbanding Report was submitted on 12/1/01

    and implemented on 7/1/02.

    Section 42, Chapter 2002-402, Laws of

    Florida: Authorized the DMS to establish and maintain the

    system and requires it to include broad-based salaryranges.

    Old Versus New 3300 classifications

    22 job families with 38 occupationalgroups, 145 occupational group levelsand no more than six levels peroccupational group

    475 pay grades & 4 pay plans 25 pay bands one pay plan

    The Previous Classification Plan contains:

    Class specifications for all classifications in the Career Service and forsome classifications in the Selected Exempt Service

    No class specifications for classifications in the Senior Management

    Service system.

    Each class specification contains allocation factors, examples of work

    performed, KSA's, and minimum qualifications of the class.

    Each system had a schedule of Salary Ranges

    Law Enforcement classifications had a separate Step Pay Plan
