The Award is a exible,interesting and fun-packed program for allyoung people betweenthe ages of 14 and 25 toparticipate in a numberof activities over a setlength of time.

It is voluntary andstructured so theparticipants can designtheir own unique programcentered around theirinterests and passions.

Christmas is nearly uponus again and so too isthe Aged PensionersChristmas Party.

This will be the 44th yearsince the inaugural partyway back in 1970.

An outstanding achievement,only made possible by theefforts of all in the NT Fire

and Rescue Service acrossall ranks and of course thegenerosity of the community.

This years party will be heldon Sunday 15th Decemberat the Kalymnos Club.

Christmas is a good time forseniors to get together

Its that time again! The festive season is upon us and the year is almost out. As weapproach this wonderful time of year I am reminded that although the Territory can bea tough place to live, compared to many other places in the world torn apart by warand famine, I couldnt think of a better place to live and raise a family.

I would like to wish everyone a safe Christmas and New Year. The Brennan Ofce will beopen over Christmas and New Year and I will be in the ofce most days so please pop in.Take care, stay safe and please have a Merry Christmas. Pete

McHappy Day 2013

Working the Drive thru for McHappy Day 2013, thisyear McHappy Day raised over 3 million dollarstowards Ronald McDonald Housing charities.

Dont play in pipes and drainsThis Wet Season Useyour brain, and dont playin pipes and drains.

Weve already had the rstcyclone for the Wet Seasonso it is important to remindeveryone of the dangersinvolved with pipes anddrains.

Cyclone Alessia broughtheavy rainfall over the pastfew days causing stormwater drains to becomeunpredictable, with thepotential for ash oodingto occur quickly andwithout warning.

We saw this occur only afew weeks ago, when ayoung boy almost drownedplaying in a ooded drain inPalmerston.

Thankfully, he was rescuedby a resident walking nearby.This is why its important forall Territory kids to be watersafety wise, stay safe andlook out for each other.

I encourage parents todiscuss water safety withtheir children and remindthem of the suddendangers that can appearduring the Wet Season.

Parents should keep aconstant watch over childrenas even the strongestswimmers can get into trouble.

CycloneAwarenessOf course this time of year also bringswith it the threat of cyclones. For anynew residents to Brennan I welcomeyou and recommend you look at thefollowing website www.securent.gov.aufor further information.

There are some common sense thingswe can all do to mitigate the risksassociated with cyclones.

Similarly people who are going awayover the Christmas period shouldensure their properties are wellcatered for...my advice is whereverpossible have someone house sit.
