Community From Kindergarten to Year 12 in Partnership
This week we have started the implementation of our Student Wellbeing Level System, I have attached a copy of it to the newsletter. The level system provides students and their parents with information about their child’s behaviour and assists all students to behave in the manner expected of students of our wonderful school. If you have any questions about the level system please do not hesitate to contact me.
2017 KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS
If you are going to enrol your child for next year buthaven’t yet done so, we would be grateful if you coulddo so as soon as possible. Similarly, if you know offriends or family who live in the Bolwarra PublicSchool zoning area and are going to enrol at our school, please encourage them to let us know either by phone or visiting our school office to complete the enrolment forms. To ascertain whether an address falls within the Bolwarra Public School catchment zone, please contact the office on 4930 1296. Having a more complete picture of school enrolments now will assist with our school planning for 2017.

PRINCIPALS NEWS Hearing Awareness Week
This week is Hearing Awareness Week. Did you know that exposure to noise is a known cause of one third of the cases of hearing loss. Damage to hearing from noise is cumulative. The louder the sound, the less time you can safely listen to it. Just because a sound isn’t annoying doesn’t make it safe. Many daily activities won’t harm your hearing, but some can start to cause damage after only a short time. The hearing awareness week website has a tool that demonstrates the impact of noise on your ears, playing loud music through an iPod can be as loud as 92dB. This can cause damage to your ears if listened to for more than 30 minutes. You can find more information at http://www.hearingawarenessweek.org.au/too-loud HUNTER REGION ATHLETICS
After a couple of postponements due to wet weather our students finally participated in the Maitland Zone Athletics Carnival last week. Congratulations to the following students who will represent our school and Maitland Zone at the Regional Athletics carnival next week; Riley Kent-Duong, Flinders Cobley, Callan Barber, William Agnew, Grace Sutherland, Holly Jones, Charlee Belcher and Abbie Turner.
5CENT CHALLENGE
The 5 cent challenge is up and running. I had 7 lucky students who correctly guessed the amount 5 cent coins in my car on Monday morning. These students received an extra 20 minutes play time on Tuesday afternoon. The challenge will run for another 2 weeks. The total amount raised stands at $288.45.
TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY
This term our school will be conducting the “Tell Them From Me” survey. The survey will be available for parents, students and teachers to complete. The feedback provided from the survey last year was a key ingredient in the creation of the school’s Kids Shed program. Attached to the newsletter is an information note about the survey and a return note for students who DO NOT wish participate in the survey. If you would like your child to complete the survey there is no need to return the note. The student survey is open to students in years four to six. The link for the parent survey is: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/mw8k7 The parent survey will remain open until the end of the term.
STUDENT WELLBEING
Our school rule focus this week has been “Respect Yourself and Others.” Classes have been discussing the importance of this rule, what it would look like and what it would sound like. Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. When we are respectful we treat others as we want to be treated.
Our focus rule for next week is “Be Safe”.

CANTEEN NEWS
Thank You! The Olympic specials are over! We would like to thank everyone for supporting our wonderful canteen and the delicious dishes from around the world. We sold 730 dishes across the 5 days. And a huge Thankyou to our amazing volunteers, we could not have done it without you!
We Love Bikkies!!! Baking ANZAC biscuits is also a fantastic way to contribute to the school, they are so popular we can’t keep up with the demand! The school preferred recipe is available from the canteen or office, and cooked biscuit donations are able to be dropped off at either the office or the canteen.
Volunteers Needed For our canteen to be able to make all this delicious homemade food we need some helpers. The remaining terms roster has been updated on the Skoolbag App (please look under the new menu listing ‘Canteen’), if you could please have a look through as we still have some vacancies for lunch order days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) as well as snack days (Tuesday and Thursday). The kids love seeing their Mums and Dads, Nans and Pops, Aunties and Uncles at the school and it is a great way to support the school as the largest fundraiser of the P&C. If you can give us even an hour of your time, even after groups in the morning, it is all very much appreciated. Please give our super friendly Canteen Manager Melani a call on 0422335939 or pop in to the canteen any time.

If your child is sick you can notify us via the Skoolbag App, telephone us, or send a note in when your child returns to school.
