Raymond Mallel, has been a private investor since 2001; director of marketing and operations at Long Beach Mortgage Company and Ameriquest Bank from 1991 to 2001; and vice president of Loubella Extendables Inc. from 1971 to 1991. He served as vice president of the State Bar of California Board of Governors from 1983 to 1986 and was chair of the Client Security Fund at the State Bar of California from 1986 to 1990. During the period of 1982 to 1994, Mr. Mallel served three consecutive terms on the Medical Board of California. This service included time spent as president and vice president. Mr. Mallel is a co-founder and member of the International Executive Board for the Sephardic Educational Center in Jerusalem, Israel. He also serves as president of the Raymond Mallel Foundation.

Cindy Cipres Klein, RN, is a registered nurse in population care management with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group since 2005. She has served in multiple positions with Kaiser, including as the RN charge nurse in urgent care from 2003 to 2005 and as an ambulatory care RN team leader in family medicine, pediatrics, allergy and obstetrics and gynecology from 1998 to 2003. Ms. Klein worked as RN supervisor for U.S. Family Care West from 1997 to 1998, as a general pediatric floor nurse at Miller’s Children’s Hospital in 1996 and as RN lead for the Universal Care Medical Group from 1992 to 1995. She was a medical records clerk at St. Jude’s Medical Center from 1991 to 1992.

Prior to her tenure with Perata, she worked for Assembly Democratic Leader Richard Katz, Speaker Willie Brown and served as an intern to former Assembly members Steve Peace and Tom Bates. She is a graduate of UC San Diego. She now owns her own lobbying and consulting firm in Sacramento. She served one term as a Board of Registered Nursing Board Member from July 2009 to December 2011.

Michael Deangelo Jackson, MSN, RN, is a clinical nurse II in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center since 2000 and served as an extern there from 1999 to 2000. He has been an adjunct clinical faculty member in the registered nursing program at Southwestern Community College and an operations supervisor at Scripps Mercy Medical Center since 2007. He was a mental health worker at Scripps Mercy Medical Center from 1992 to 2000 and served as a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1989 to 1993.

She was a registered nurse at the Merrithew Memorial Hospital in Contra Costa County from 1979 to 1981 and the Wichita General Hospital in Texas from 1971 to 1972.

She has served in a variety of positions at the Hospital, including gastroenterology and multispecialty clinic manager, administrative director of subspecialty clinics, and executive director of the ambulatory care division. Beverly has a bachelor of science degree in health science and nursing from California State University, Fresno, and a master's degree in organizational behavior from California School of Professional Psychology, also in Fresno.

She was an adjunct clinical professor at Sonoma State University from 1984 to 1995; registered nurse labor representative at the California Nurses Association from 1994 to 2007; and has been a nurse practitioner at the Jewish Community Free Clinic since 2005. Ms. Woods received her Master of Science degree in nursing from Sonoma State University.

Imelda Ceja-Butkiewicz, of Bakersfield was legal secretary to Daniel Rodriguez, Esq. from 1986 to 1988 and a legal secretary for Chain Younger Stiles and Cohn from 1988 to 1995. Ms. Ceja-Butkiewicz has held various positions with the Kern County Economic Opportunity Corporation from 1995 to 1998 including immunization coordinator, health educator and Medi-Cal outreach coordinator. Since 1999 she has held multiple positions within the Kern County Health Department including project specialist for the Refugee Health Assessment Program and for the Kern Access to Children’s Health Program.

There is a regulatory proposal that increases the fine level for traffic violations that registered nurses are required to report at the time of license renewal from $300 to $1000.

Documents were sent to Agency for review on January 28, 2014. Agency may take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete their review. Upon completion of the review the documents are returned to the Board for any changes and then sent on to the Office of Administrative Law where they will be acted upon.

The Department of Consumer Affairs’ New Computer System went “live” with the Board of Registered Nursing on October 8 2013.

This system will allow for consumers, applicants, and licensees to acquire more online information once fully implemented.

of an application during the licensing process. Create a logon and look at progress of their application.

Consumers will be able to track the location of their complaint as it moves through the complaint process. Create a logon and follow the progress of the complaint.

A logon is not required to file a complaint, although without one, following the progress of the complaint filed is not possible.

The BRN has experienced technical issues since the roll-out of BreEZe.

The BRN has been working closely with DCA Executive staff and the BreEZe team to address the issues.

The BRN has requested and will be receiving additional temporary staff from DCA to assist with the processing of renewals and applications.

Additional staff has been made available to the BRN February 14 – March 7, 2014 to assist with this task.

The staff has been working in the evenings and on the weekends in an effort to reduce the time it takes to license an applicant, and to reduce the backlog that exists.

BRN has trained 6 additional BRN and 4 DCA staff to evaluate applications.
