Literature in Germany shows: 15% and accordingly, 21% of absenteeism in the hairstyling trade is caused by musculoskeletal disorders (source: absenteeism report 2010; IKK Baden-Württemberg and Hessen survey, 2007)

International surveys report 41% - 92 % of hairdressers with shoulder pain

Only a limited number of examinations 1 study (by means of measurement techniques) on posture

(upper arm, 1 level) No studies performed on differenciated activity analyses

1. Identification of activities and posture that can be potentially harmful

Which activities and posture come into question?

How can one differentiate among the possibilities?

How often do they occur and how long do they last?

How do they have to be evaluated in terms of repetition, frequency, amplitude and strength
