Fancy Dress: Students of Nursery & KG dressed up and

enacted their favourite character from Ramayana.

Children’s Day: Our` Little Master Chefs’ enjoyed making

and sharing with their family members yummy chocolate

treats.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY:- ‘GURUPURAB’To celebrate the auspicious occasion of‘GURUPURAB,’ the students of Classes ID andIE presented a Special Assembly on thefestival. The soulful chanting of the MoolMantra, ‘EK OMKAR’ followed by thedepiction of Nagar Kirtan, Punj Pyaras andGuru Ka Langar were the main highlights ofthe presentation which was truly anenriching and enlightening experience for all.

CELEBRATIONS:-▪ TALENT SHOW (03.11.2020): Students showed

great enthusiasm as they showcased their talentand creativity through an array of activities.

▪ DIWALI CELEBRATION WITH GRANDPARENTS(11.11.2020):- (As a part of the ‘ParentsParticipation’) In the children’s journey oflearning, grandparents too play an integral part.This Diwali, grandparents were invited to narrateincidents from the great epic ‘RAMAYANA’ toconnect our children with Mythology andunderstand as to why the festival is celebrated.Children also learnt to make ‘Wall Hanging’of Diyas using paper as a part of the GreenDiwali Celebrations.

▪ CHILDREN’S DAY : To celebrate this special day, a short virtualpresentation was made by the teachers through which they conveyedtheir love, adulation and blessings to the students. This was followed byvirtual games and dance session in which the children participatedwith great fervour.▪ LIFE SKILL ACTIVITIES:As a part of making children self reliant and learning new householdskills, students were taught the following:-i) Putting on a pillowcaseii) Folding a towel

FITNESS PROGRAMME FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS:- (21.11.2020)An online fitness session by the Sports Teacher Ms. Reshma Basist wasconducted. Parents participated in the session with great enthusiasm. Ms.Reshma guided the parents on the various exercises and theparents performed all of them with great zeal. The school’sendeavour in organizing such a motivating fitness session was greatlyappreciated by the parents and they expressed their keen desire to be apart of more such events.

• MORNING ASSEMBLY

The day begins with a prayer and thought, followed by children presenting the amazing facts using pictures or props. Show

& Tell and Quiz are other activities that are also done.

• ‘WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT’- Vocabulary Enrichment (ENGLISH)

• ‘DISCOVER INDIA’ -To make children aware of the rich cultural heritage of our motherland.(ENGLISH)

CURRICULUM CONNECT WITH ART AND CRAFT AND OTHER ACTIVITIES (EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING):

CLASS I:-

1.Making Word Wheels with ‘nd, ng and nk’ words- Vocabulary Enrichment (ENGLISH)

2. Poem Recitation-‘The Bird Bath’:- Students recited the poem and made creative and innovative props as aids for the

presentation of the same.

3.‘PED HUMARE MITR’:- Things we get from plants-Students learnt about the importance of trees and the need to conserve it.

They made a tree by drawing it’s trunk and sticking dry leaves on it. Next they wrote the names of things that we get from plants,

on the cut outs of leaves.

4. Fireless Cooking – Making ‘Fruit Cream’ :- The aim of the activity was to make children aware of the names of various fruits

and the importance of eating them. (HINDI)

5.Art & Craft – ‘Making a Diwali card’:- Students framed addition story sums based on the pictorial depictions that they made

on the card. (MATHEMATICS)

6. Play Way Method - Addition using strips of TENS and blocks of ONES, (a replica of the DIENNE’S BLOCKS’ ), children

formed two digit numbers and added them.(MATHEMATICS)

ART & CRAFT ACTIVITIES:-

CLASS II:-

1.Board Games on Tenses – Students prepared a board game and enjoyed learning PRESENT and PAST TENSE in a

play way method. ( ENGLISH )

2.My favourite fruit of tenses – Students wrote the regular and irregular verbs in their present and past tense on different

slices of the fruit made out of paper craft. (ENGLISH)

3.Making a ‘BIRD FEEDER’:- Curriculum Connect to the Hindi Lesson ‘Bulbul ke Bacche.’ Students were guided how

to make the bird feeder. The basic aim of the activity was to sensitize children towards taking care of birds. (HINDI)

4.Poem Recitation-‘Titli Rani’:- Students recited the poem using creative props .

5.‘Vilom Shabdh’ – Students were guided in making a paper tortoise. They then wrote their choice of opposites on the shell

of the tortoise. (HINDI)

6.Learning addition through real life experience- Making a grocery bill and adding the total cost of the purchase.

(MATHEMATICS)

7.Table of 6:- Using clay dough/atta dough, students made groups of 6 to understand the concept of multiplication.

(MATHEMATICS)

PODCAST :- Podcasts were prepared in all subjects by the teachers and shared with thestudents every week. These podcasts were discussed with the students during the onlinesessions.

Science Webinar on 03.11.20

“Meet a Scientist” webinar on the topic- Exploring Nature was held on 3rd Nov2020. An eminent scientist, Dr. B. K. Tyagi

was the main speaker. He explained how nature maintains a balance of everything and we need to respect the laws of nature.

He emphasized that the students should observe patterns in their surroundings, analyse and evolve theories by putting together

their observations. He encouraged students to frame their own definitions of scientific processes instead of depending on the

definitions given in the books. He also emphasized on the need to develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. It was an

interactive session, the students participated with great enthusiasm and asked questions too.

Special Assemblies:

On 5/11/20, class 4G students showcased a special assembly on The Wangala Festival celebrated

in Meghalaya every year. Wangala is a harvest festival celebrated by the Garo tribe living in

Meghalaya, Nagaland and Assam. People pay gratitude to the Sun God for blessing them with a

good harvest. 4G students spoke about the festival and its significance and performed the dance

wearing costumes and using drums.

Children of class 3A presented Special Assembly on the topic ’Love and Kindness’ . Children

presented famous quotes on kindness , a short play and dance performance with a message to be

friendly, generous and considerate towards everyone.

Counselling session

Birla Vidya Niketan School held an online counselling session on Saturday the 7th

November. Ms. Rashmi, the school counsellor, took the session and guided the parents -The

session aimed to strengthen kids’ bonds with parents. They shared their concern about the dangers

of internet access and the availability of devices. The suggestions of the counsellors and

coordinators included introducing child-lock system and installing firewalls. “We also asked the

parents to trust the children with their responsibilities. Children tend to get bored and lose focus

while attending multiple online classes at a stretch, “They have been attending online classes for

nearly seven months now, with very little outdoor activity, which can be stressful. It can lead to

erratic behaviour and lack of concentration. So, we must listen to them and help them ease into

the new normal .

CELEBRATIONS:

Children’s Day

Children’s Day was celebrated with full fervour on 12th November. Teachers organised a

fun-filled day for the students by showering their love and warmth in a form of beautiful

video. Students dressed up in ethnic wear to add to the charm of festivities. All of them

danced, sang, played instruments, cracked jokes and had a great time.

Diwali : Family Quiz on Mythology was held on 12 Nov 2020. Students and their

family members participated in the event enthusiastically and added to the festive vibe

of Diwali

House activities

a) House activity on puppet making was conducted for the students of class 3 by Kiran Nadar Museum for Art.

b) The students of classes 4&5 enhanced their logical side by attempting a Math Quiz during the House Meeting heldon 6/11/2020

a) Parent Teachers interaction was held on 07.11.20 from 10:30 am to 11:10 am with the subject teachers

b) Parent Teachers interaction was held with class teachers on 28.11.20.

On the occasion of The Constitution Day the students of classes 3,4&5 did a variety of activities like an activity based

worksheet , dressing up for a religious festival and writing slogans on Secularism. The students enjoyed every bit of it.
