Term 2 is well underway and we have settled back into teaching and learning. With ANZAC Day falling in the school holidays, we conducted a special assembly on the last day of Term with the aim of recognising our servicemen and women, and also raising awareness and knowledge amongst our students. Thanks to Mr Schneider for organising some moving and informative presentations, including a wonderful speech from our special guest, Chief Petty Officer John Blackstone of the Royal Australian Navy. With the Billabong High School “footprint” covering so much of the Greater Hume Shire, we did our best to attend as many local events as possible. Students and staff paid their respects and represented the school at Culcairn, Henty, Holbrook, Yerong Creek, Walla Walla, Burrumbuttock, Brocklesby and Pleasant Hills. I was proud to see how well presented our students were at these events, and I thank our staff and PRINCIPAL parents for assisting with coordination of this important day. This Wednesday is the school cross country race and should be a fun time for students and staff to get out and get active. I see physical health and fitness as integral to the development of a successful and happy person, and it is certainly an area in which adults can lead by example. I look forward to running and seeing just how fit some of our students are! Finally, I am asking parents to spread the word amongst our community for some assistance with our farm. Our Agricultural Assistant is on leave for an indefinite period, and we would like to increase the pool of potential casual workers who may periodically work in this role. The job would suit a retired farmer, and involves a variety of animal husbandry and associated tasks such as feeding, shearing, fencing and general maintenance. Interested people should leave their name and phone number at the front office and they will be contacted with further information. Mr K.

I was proud to see how well presented our students were at these events, and I thank our staff and

PRINCIPAL parents for assisting with coordination of this important day.
