Integration with APEX
Consider Buying If,• Currently a EBS, JDEdwards, Siebel or Peoplesoft
customer, and– Currently using Oracle BIS– High percent reporting Business Requirements can be met with
pre-built applications.– Performance Issues
• Or, you can leverage Oracle’s Universal Adapters and– High percent reporting Business Requirements can be met with
pre-built applications.– Performance Issues
• Tasks to consider when implementing Pre- built Apps with Discoverer
– Install pre-built BI Applications & review functionality– Compare Exception & Summary reporting & Guided
Analytics to existing transactional reporting in Discoverer
– Identify Custom Discoverer views– Identify Flexfields not included in pre-built Apps– Review aggregation levels vs. your current Discoverer
aggregation.– Re-build Discoverer Reports
Consider Build If,
• Currently using Data Warehouse Design• Custom Built OLTP schema• Complex / Custom solutions using EBS schema
If You Build
• Plan on Extended Project timeline• Decide between Data Warehouse or OLTP environment or
a combination• Budget for Security development if custom security exists
in Discoverer• Address Performance Issues• Use the Migration Utility to migrate EUL
Migration of EUL• Oracle Discoverer Metadata Conversion Assistant.
(Packaged with Oracle BI EE Suite).– Software Requirements
• OBIEE 10.1.3.4 or later• Disco Admin 10.1.2 or later

Security Considerations
• Will need to develop own if currently using Apps Mode EUL
• Will need to replicate custom security (Function Calls, custom view security)
• Pre-built BI Analytics has built-in security tied to EBS– Org based for Projects– Ledger based for GL
Performance

into the OBIEE solution.• Scheduled Disco Reports will need to be converted into
Scheduled Ibots.
Perform Operation Analysis
• Consider Business Role Reporting• Review Disco Metadata Environment• Review All Disco Reports• Review existing performance issues• Data Structure Considerations
And Purchase Hardware

• OLTP database server or Data Warehouse Server• Possible Presentation Servers• Fail-over / Redundancy Considerations• Dev / Test / Prod environments
Should Disco & OBIEE Co-Exist?
• Yes the two solutions could co-exist if, – Transactional solution is required– Real-time data reporting is needed
