Bibliography

• A bibliography is a list of books, articles and other sources you use when researching a topic and writing a paper. It will appear at the end of your paper.

• The bibliography is sometimes called Works Cited or Works Consulted.

Why do we create a bibliography?

• If you use someone’s work, you should cite it, and you could be accused of plagiarism.( word-for-word)

• It shows that you did research.• You don’t take credit from someone else.• It can be used to guide people to other

references or resources.

What is Plagiarism?

• to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own.

• to use (another's production) without crediting the source

• to commit literary theft• to present as new and original an idea or

product derived from an existing source

Using the MLA format to create a Bibliography

• A Bibliography stands as its own page.• A Bibliography is listed in alphabetical order.• Every line after the first line is indented.

How to cite the Internet

• Last name, First name. “Article Title.” Title of Website. Publisher/Publisher location. Date last updated. Date accessed <URL link>.
