Since Eekels Pompen opened for business in 1914, in the City of Weert situated close to the Belgium border in the south of the Netherlands, they have been involved in building, servicing, selling and renting pumps and pumping equipment. Since then Eekels have moved Head Office twice, first to Amsterdam and now to the City of Barendrecht, which is close to Europe’s largest commercial port, Rotterdam. The original offices and workshops in Weert and Amsterdam have been superseded by five autonomous establish-ments in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Quality with innovation, combined with a passion to provide solutions that benefit our customers, is the driving force behind continually improving present designs and creating new models to fit the needs of our customers. Our in-house ability to design, manufacturer and test our products, both at our own test facilities and in our rental fleet, gives our customer the assurance that the product they receive will meet the highest standards.

Betsy Pumping Systems, designed and built by professionals, for professionals
In 1985 we decided to design and build our own range of dry self- priming diesel driven solids handling mobile pump units. Our aim was to build a pump unit that would satisfy the most demanding of users. We named these units Betsy.
The standard Betsy is built around the Hidrostal screw centrifugal pump with its excellent solids handling pro-perties and low power requirements.
The very advantageous NPSH characteristics of the Hidrostal impeller also gives Betsy the ability to prime and pump on very deep suction lifts.

BetsyPrime electronic priming systemBetsyPrime has no moving parts in the priming chamber, making the system ideal for handling conta-minated liquids without the usual risk of blocking the moving parts. The priming system vacuum pump only operates when the liquid in the priming chamber falls below a predetermined level.
Betsy Hidrostal screw solids handling pumpThe Hidrostal pump has been designed to cope with the most difficult liquids including those with large size solids content, as well as, viscose and heavy liquids. For example, contaminated bentonite and raw sewage can be pumped with ease. The screw impeller is extremely efficient therefore the power required to drive the unit is far less than that of traditional solids handling pumps. Its clog free properties combined with its very large free passage ensures that the user has hours of problem free pumping and low fuel consumption. The Hidrostal pump can be supplied

Shaft sealsAll the Betsy pumps are fitted with high grade double mechanical shaft seals submerged in an oil bath. This allows the pumps to run dry without over heating the Sic-Sic and Sic-Tungsten seal surfaces of the mechanical shaft seals.
Betsy Whisper Sound Reduction CanopiesAll the canopies are constructed of high quality sheet steel which is gal-vanized after cutting and welding. This ensures that the canopy will stay in top condition for many years. The canopies have been designed to reduce noise emissions to a very low level whilst the fully bunded fuel tank eliminates contamination.
Lower containerThis robust container is hot dip galvanized and acts as a bunded container for the fuel tank. Added fork lift channels assist in the safe transport of the pump set by fork lift trucks.

1. The large integral fuel tank reduces the need to constantly refuel, saving unnecessary labour costs, especially at weekends when labour costs are high.2. Standard level switching on all models. This automatic monitoring system will start and stop the pump unit automatically depending on the water level.3. BetsyPrime. This automatic dry prime system only runs when required. For example during initial start-up priming and when under snore conditions.4. The externally adjustable wear liner allows clearance adjustments between wear liner and the impeller op the pump without the need to strip down the unit.5. High quality mechanical shaft seats Sic-Sic and Sic-Tungsten in an oil bath which gives extremely long-life and low maintenance intervals. 6. Low noise emissions allows the pump unit to be deployed in noise sensitive areas without the need for an electricity supply.7. Life cycle costs and the huge fuel savings to be made by using the Betsy Pumping System
clogging properties. Conven-tional pumps with large free passages, for example Vortex impeller pumps or wet priming pumps, may have a large free passage but they do not possess the same high degree of non-clogging properties, and their efficiency is very poor. The fuel savings which can be achieved by using the Betsy Pumping
Systems is best illustrated by the following comparison:A Betsy 125M running at 1500 rpm pumping will consume 3 litres of diesel per hour. A diesel driven pump set fitted with a Vortex impeller with the same and comparable pumping conditions will consume 7.8 litres of diesel fuel per hour. The current price per litre of diesel fuel is € 1.20 per litre. Over a period of 168 hours (one week continuous running) fuel consumption of a Vortex impeller will be about 1310 litre with fuel costs of €1,572.50. Fuel consumption of a Betsy 125M will be about 504 litre with fuel costs of €604.80. A saving on fuel costs of 62%.
