Welcome to the 2015 Be-A-Star Program: Spotlight On Us

Compass Group has succeeded for 20 years by keeping the focus on our customers and giving them our very best, every day. When a milestone year rolls around, it calls for a celebration of our company and our people. This year’s Be-A-Star theme, Spotlight On Us, centers on the inclusive word “Us.” It says that every associate is essential to our company’s growth and prosperity. We can all share the spotlight, and enjoy the rewards of the team approach that has helped us lead the industry for two decades.

The Be-A-Star program gives you goals that will help you be successful, while offering you the opportunity to be recognized for being the best. Star Achievements are tasks aligned with your division’s MAP objectives and other goals. The program consists of 3 Star periods, aligned with the first three quarters of the fiscal calendar. In the fourth quarter, results are tallied, and national winners are determined. Challenge yourself and your team to exceed expectations, and you may be among the winners!

You can access your program instructions here and on MyCompass/FISD/Marketing/Be A star. We’ve done our best to make it simple and to give you links to everything you’ll need. Please help us keep it ‘green’ by completing and submitting all reports and forms electronically.

President’s MessageBe-A-StAr 2015

Dear Flik ISD Team Members:

Congratulations! We have just concluded our 2014 Be-A-star Campaign and I couldn’t be prouder of all of our winners.

Be-A-star is part of our culture, and impacts both our associates and customers. So it should come as no surprise, that business owners who fully embrace the program enjoy higher customer satisfaction and greater frontline loyalty. Recognizing that loyalty, along with successful training, development and mentoring, is critical todrivingthebusinessforward;alongwithyourcommitmenttoourgoalsandobjectives.That’swhythisyear we are concentrating on front line associates and our students, faculty and staff. With the roll out of the Platinum Service program in January, we will be able to teach and reap the rewards in being known as having the best customer service as well as the best food.

The 2015 Be-A-star program continues with 3 Stars, focus on our key operational initiatives and our yearly goals and objectives.

Finally, as we close another record breaking year, I am grateful to all of you for your dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence. As you set your business strategies for the next fiscal year, ensure Be-A-star is the catalyst for serving our people.

Roll Out & Staff Photo

The program roll out allows you to introduce the Be-A-star program to your team. Each person in the unit should help take responsibility for the BAS program. Give all your associates a chance to take responsibility. Read aloud what is expected for the year, ask them what they can do to help complete the program, give them an initiative to be in charge of. Work together as a team to complete the program for the year.

How to get credit:1.ReadtheintroductionandStar1,2and3;prepareaplanforcompletingalltherequirementsontime.2. Submit a staff picture. The picture should be taken in good light and all associates should be in uniform without aprons.

Pictures should be submitted to [email protected]. The subject of the email should be formatted as follows: School Name: Unit Number: Staff Photo For Example - Hackely School: UNIT 3333: Staff Photo

Once your photo is emailed in, you will receive credit for this achievement.

Trim Trax Roll Out

Trim Trax, developed exclusively by Compass Group, is designed to measure, track and reduce food waste at the unit level and is applicable to all operating units. The program is simple to implement and the interactive online tool makes it easy to measure and reduce waste.

Minimize food waste and take ownership of your product cost with Trim Trax. The program is applicable to all operating units and focuses your team on a common goal, as well as produces charts and graphs that can be used to monitor progress and celebrate victories. Trim Trax is not a short-term initiative. It is a permanent way to improve the way we work – a sustainable program for a sustainable environment.

How to get credit:Roll out the Trim Trax program at your unit. Upload the program to your computer and order the marketing materials. Once your materials are ordered – links below. Complete the Trim Trax form below and you will receive credit for this star achievement.

Recipe Contest

Once again this year, we challenge you and your associates to develop a recipe that will WOW. The recipe contest ingredient will be announced January 12, 2015. All rules and entry forms will be posted on MyCompass/FISD/ Marketing/Be A star

How to Get Credit:Complete the recipe form template before March 13, 2015.

One Grand Prize will be selected as the overall winner of the contest with a cash prize. Threerunneruprecipes(oneineachcategoryBreakfast,LunchEntréeandHealthySnack)willbeselectedasrunnerupprizes.

All submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:

CREATIVITY/UNIQUENESS: Is the recipe an original idea? Is there artistic or imaginative thought around ingredient usage and/or method? Is it one of a kind? Is the recipe reflective of unique twists of ingredient usage? Does it contain interesting, yet delightful, flavor combinations?

FEASIBILITY: Is this recipe capable of being created in a residential kitchen in a reasonable amount of time? How many ingredients does it use? Could anyone create this food by following the recipe?

VISUAL APPEAL: Does this recipe present beautifully on the plate or in the baking dish? Does the visual/final presentation of the recipe make you want to eat this before you can smell or taste it?

All decisions of the Judges are final. In the event of a tie for category winners, the tied entries will be re-judged using the same criteria. If still tied, the entry with the most prominent use of blueberries in the recipe will be chosen the winner.

Platinum Service Roll Out

Platinum Service is our new customer service program adapted from the Flik International program. You were first introduced to the program at district meetings earlier this year. We will roll out this program in phases and phase one is part of this years BAS program.

How to get credit:Follow instructions posted to the MyCompass/FISD/Marketing. The form below must be complete at the end of the 8 weeks of initiatives. Each week a new initiative of the program will be introduced and implemented to your staff. Each initiative will be outlined at the beginning of Star 2.

The Purpose of Completing a Compass in the Community Star Achievement is… It demonstrates Compass Group’s value of Responsibility in making positive contributions to the health and well-being of associates, customers, and the communities in which we work and live. These activities can potentially strengthen associate, client, and customer relationships which in turn will result in higher retention levels with all groups. Other positive outcomes include unit organic business growth, opportunities for additional sales with other Compass Group companies, and access to greater supply savings.

HAACP Standards Quiz

HACCP, or the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point system, is a process control system that identifies where food safety hazards may occur in a food production process and puts into place stringent controls to prevent the hazards from occurring. By strictly monitoring and controlling each step of the process, there is less chance for hazards to occur and in this way a food business is able to assure the safety of the food products they produce.

The quiz will reveal how much you know about HAACP standards, where we are as a company and what we can do to make sure all of us meet all of the requirements.

Official rules

I. General Rules

Introduction:CompassGroup(“Sponsor”)issponsoringtheBe-A-Star2015Program(“ThePromotion”)foreachofitscompanies—BonAppétit,Canteen,Chartwells,CorporateOffice,Eurest,FlikInternationalCorp.,Foodbuy,Morrison,andTouchPoint(“Companies”).ThePromotioninvolvesthree“Stars.”EachStarconsistsofaseriesofactivitiesandskill-basedAchievements(“ActionItems”).TherearealsothreeSpecialAwards.Thesegeneraltermsandconditions(“GeneralRules”)applytoallAchievementsandSpecialAwards.Inaddition,eachAchievementandSpecialAwardmaybesubjecttospecifictermsandconditions(“ActionItemsRules”or“SpecialAwardRules,”respectively),asdiscussedbelow.TheGeneral Rules, Component Rules, and the Special Award Rules together form these Official Rules. The Promotion begins August 2014 and ends June 2015. The specific timing for each Achievement is set forth in the Achievement Rules. The timing for each Special Award is set forth in the Special Award Rules.

Eligibility: Must be 18 years old or older. Each participant must comply with all terms and conditions set forthin these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all such requirements. Entries must be originalwork and must not have been previously published or have won any other award. Participants are eligible onlyif they are actively employed with the company at the time of award payout. Active participants will receivea prorated award based on the number of weeks worked in the eligible position. Vacation will be consideredweeks worked for the purpose of eligibility. If a participant’s employment with the company is terminated either voluntarily or involuntarily, or if a participant engages in conduct which gives rise to a suspension or some other form of disciplinary action, then notwithstanding any other provisions of the Be-A-Star Recognition Program, the participant shall automatically become ineligible to receive all or part of an award, subject to the sole and absolute discretion of Compass Group hereinafter known as the “Company,” to decide otherwise.

Prizes: Prizes, selection process, timing, and prize value details are set forth in the Achievement Rules andSpecial Award Rules. No substitution or transfer of prizes permitted except by Sponsor, who, in the event ofprize unavailability or any other reason, reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal orgreater value. All taxes, fees, and surcharges, and any other expenses not listed as included in a prize are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and its advertising and promotional agencies to use winner’s name and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes in any media without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Decisions of Sponsor or judges grading submissions for any Achievement or Special Award are final and binding in all matters relating to the Promotion. In the event of a tie in any Achievement or Special Award that requires judging or evaluation, duplicate prizes will be awarded. For prizes exceeding $7500invalue,potentialwinnerswillberequiredtosignandreturnanAffidavitofEligibility,LiabilityRelease,andwherelawful,aPublicityRelease,withinfourteen(14)daysofnotification.Ifapotentialwinnerdoesnotreturnsuchreleasewithinthe(14)daytimeperiod,suchpotentialwinnerwillbedisqualifiedandanotherwinnerselectedintheplaceofthedisqualified person at random from all eligible entries. If any prize or prize notification is returned as non-deliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and another potential winner will be selected in the original potential winner’s place. A cashpayoutisproratedbasedonfulltimeequivalence.Fortyhoursequalsonefullshare,thirtyhoursequals3⁄4share,twentyhoursequals1⁄2share,etc.,basedonthenormalworkweekatthetimeofpayout.

Miscellaneous: By participating in the Promotion, participants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, itsparents, subsidiaries, divisions, related companies and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims or causes of action arising out of participation in the Promotion or with awards provided hereunder. All entries become the property of Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete,

stolen, misdirected or postage due entries. If for any reason the Promotion is not capable of running as planned including due to tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, human error or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Promotion, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft of destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries.

Submission of entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right in perpetuity to reproduce, publish, use, edit, adaptand/or modify such entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation and without compensation toparticipant. Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action with Sponsor arising out of or connected withthis Promotion, other than determination or validity of claims, shall be resolved individually and exclusively byarbitration under the Commercial Dispute Resolution Procedures of the American Arbitration Association inCharlotte, North Carolina. Any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocketcosts incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Promotion, but in no event attorneys’ fees.Participantsherebywaiveallrights:(i)toclaimorbeawardedanypunitive,direct,indirect,incidentalandconsequentialdamagesandanyotherdamages,otherthanforactualout-of-pocketexpenses;and(ii)tohavedamages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity,interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, shall be governed by, and construed in accordancewith, the laws of the State of North Carolina. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify this program asdetermined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Any modification of these Official Rules shall be communicated tothe participants via mail and/or e-mail. Void where prohibited.
