    These days database is becoming very popular. Almost everyorganization like financial institutions, schools, taxation, etcmaintained its database for large storage and easy retrievalfunctions

    Mobilink is one of the leading cellular network companies. It is

    playing an important role in shaping communication and ourlives.

    In our project we have taken some processes of this mobilink. Asthis report is the first part of the project so it mainly containsthe objects related to the processes and their attributes andcreates the relationships and develops the Entity relationshipdiagram.

    BRAND AND HISTORY

    Holding S.A.E. ("Orascom Telecom") or ("OTH") was establishedin 1998 and has grown to become a major player in thetelecommunication market in the world. OTH is consideredamong the largest and most diversified network operator inthe Middle East, Africa and Pakistan. It is a leading mobiletelecommunications company operating in seven emerging

    markets in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia having apopulation under license of 460 million in total population withan average penetration of mobile telephony rate across allmarkets of 8%. Orascom Telecom operates GSM networks inAlgeria ("Djezzy"), Egypt ("MobiNil"), Pakistan ("Mobilink"),Iraq ("IraQna"), Bangladesh ("Banglalink"), Tunisia("Tunisiana") and Zimbabwe ("Telecel Zimbabwe"). OrascomTelecom subscriber number reached over 20 millionsubscribers as of June, 2005.

    Orascom Telecom's operation in Pakistan, Mobilink, started itsoperations in 1994, and until early 2001, had a market shareof 40%. In April 2001, OTH took over management control ofthe company and as of June, 2005; Mobilink served morethan 7 million subscribers, representing a market share ofapproximately 61% of total mobile subscribers in Pakistan.

    Mobilink GSM (PMCL*), a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom and hasbecome the market leader both in terms of growth as well as

    having the largest customer subscriber base in Pakistan - abase of over 14 Million and growing. Mobilink prides itself onbeing the first cellular service provider to operate on a 100%digital GSM technology in Pakistan that also provides state-of-the-art communication solutions to its customers.

    Mobilink offers exclusively designed tariff plans that cater to thecommunication needs of a diverse group of people, from

    individuals to businessmen to corporate and multinationals.To achieve this objective, it offers both postpaid (Indigo) andprepaid (JAZZ) solutions to its customers. Compared to itscompetitors, both the postpaid (Indigo) and prepaid (JAZZ)brands are the largest brands of their kind in the Pakistancellular industry.

    In addition to providing advanced voice communication servicesthat makes the lives of millions that much easy, Mobilink alsooffers a host of value-added-services to its prized customers.It received the ISO 9002 Quality Management SystemCertification for Billing, Engineering Departments and CSContact Center. In addition to that, it implemented a fullIntelligent Network (IN) platform from Siemens for the Prepaidplatform. It currently has the largest Call Center in Pakistan,which is there to assist the customers 24 hours. Mobilink isthe only cellular service in Pakistan that provides coverage onthe M2 motorway, bilateral roaming in over 100 countriesaround the world with true international roaming with over 300

    operators across the globe, and extensive GPRS Roamingand Blackberry Roaming services, being the first mobileoperator in Pakistan to do so.

    MOBILINK GSM's Short Message Service Center allows VehicleTracking and Fleet Management services that are beingprovided by Tracker (Pvt.) Ltd., under the brand name of C-Track, a company licensed by Pakistan Telecom Authority(PTA). Tracker currently operates from Karachi but can

    provide these facilities at all those locations where GSMcoverage is available

    Besides providing all these value-added services to its customers,Mobilink, at the same time, places high importance to itscoverage, which is why it covers its customers in over 750cities and towns nationwide as well as over 100 countries oninternational roaming service.     CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

    Mobilink believes in playing an active role in supporting the communityand social development of Pakistan. Each year, Mobilink and its staff

    contribute significantly to charities and community projects to help bring

    about a better quality of life to the less privileged in the community and

    enrich the lives of Pakistanis through support in local arts, education and

    sports.

    A Caring Corporate Citizen

    Mobilink has been actively making regular donations to ShaukatKhanam Memorial Cancer Research Hospital, Roshni Homesand Zindagi Trust. It also encourages its large customer basealso donate generously through SMS donations for variouscauses. Mobilink also supports other organizations such asthe Khidmat Foundation, Umeed-e-Noor, and PIMS Children

    Educating the Youth

    High quality education is the right of every Pakistani but most ofthe time this right does not see the light of day. Mobilink'scommunity investment and welfare projects also focus onassisting students and organizations achieve this right.

    Mobilink has made various donations to educational institutes. Thisincludes donating computers to the Federal Board of

    Intermediate and Secondary Education, donating Rs. 100,000to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences to set up a computerlab, and sponsoring the commemorative ceremony for thegolden jubilee of Cadet College, Hasanabdal.

    Mobilink is a supporter of The Citizen's Foundation educationprogram across Pakistan. It has committed funds for the

    construction of schools in the under-developed areas ofLahore and Karachi.

    In partnership with Roshni Homes, a private charitable trustdevoted to housing and educating orphaned and abandonedchildren, Mobilink has also commissioned the construction ofa new housing block in Gujranwala.

    Mobilink also joined hands with Heartfile, an NGO dedicated toeducating the nation about healthy living and diseaseprevention, and produced a series of documentaries onvarious common diseases and their prevention.

    Cultivating the Community

    Respecting and protecting the environment we live in, is a job wemust all do together. The only way to combat poverty is totransform the less fortunate into productive members of thesociety. Mobilink has taken a step towards alleviating povertywhile protecting and beautifying the environment bycollaborating with the Mobilink PCO. This product enablespeople from all walks of life to earn a secured livelihood.Aimed at bringing prosperity for the rural people throughoutPakistan, the Mobilink PCO is self-employment solution,

    fulfilling people's dreams and aspirations of leading a betterlife for themselves, their children, and future generations.

    Supporting the Arts

    Each culture is best defined by an artistic expression. Preservingand cultivating the Arts is a necessity that should beencourages more often in Pakistan. Mobilink has taken thelead in doing so in many different ways.

    Mobilink's alliance with the international Kara Film Festivaldemonstrates its commitment to the promotion of art andtheatre. The festival creates a space for alternative andindependent cinematographers, both experienced and newfilmmakers, to exhibit their creative endeavors in Pakistan .Mobilink not only supports the organizers but also assists inportraying a positive image of Pakistan to the world.

    Mobilink has encouraged arts further by supporting the JAZZ IMAwards, Jazz Icon, and Battle of the Bands. The company isalso actively involved in promoting the revival of cinemaculture in Pakistan through partnership with Box Office forreleases of blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean,Miami Vice and Casino Royale.

    Playing the Sport

    As a nation, Pakistanis are very passionate about their sports.Patriotism runs high in various sports such as cricket andhockey. Mobilink, with its finger always on the pulse of thenation, actively sponsors sporting events and sports up-gradation programs at the grassroots level.

    Employee Involvement

    Mobilink believes in supporting the community not only throughsponsorships but also through employee involvement. Inaddition to sponsorships, Mobilink encourages its employeesto be engaged in community welfare work and to supportrelevant causes. On average, employees clock up over 170dedicated hours of community service in the span of sixmonths. Voluntary donations are also regularly collected anddirected towards the deserving.

    Earthquake 2005

    During the devastating earthquake of 2005 that struckthe Northern Areas of Pakistan, Mobilink was amongst the first torespond to the crisis. Relief Camps were set up in all majorhospitals to provide free calling facilities to patients and relativesarriving from far flung areas. Goods such as blankets, shawls,

    jackets were also collected for those affected by the earthquake

    and Mobilink Relief Teams were constituted to provide aid to theNorthern Areas.

    SMS fund collection had first day responses amounting to astaggering Rs. 5 Million, an amount matched by Mobilink with anequal contribution. Chairman Orascom Telecom also committedUS$1 million towards providing relief to earthquake victims.

    As part of the post-earthquake reconstruction effort, Mobilink is

    assisting in rebuilding the village of Chamman Kotli in Azad .

    1) CONSTRUCTION PROCESS: Mobilinkerect its network towers throughoutPakistan to improve and to provide better services to its customers.

    a) Storing of network towers is warehousing.

    b) Allocating different locations to mobilink towers according to the

    frequency.

    c) People on contract basis erect these network towers.

    2) CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCESS: Mobilink provide customer services to itscustomers in the form of:

    a) Sims Issuance:Sims is issued to people and their personal

    b) Mobilink Packages:There are two packages provided to

    mobilink. JAZZ:

    Its a prepaid service in which card rechargeable processis used.

    INDIGO:Its a postpaid service which evolves monthly billing

    process.

    c) Conversion of Packages:Package can be converted into other

    either JAZZ to INDIGO or INDIGO to JAZZ which involves furthermore details of the person.

    d) Helpline:Customers can call anytime or the helpline for their

    required solution.Mobilink then check our problems, evaluate themand provide favorable services.

    e) Complaints: Customers put complaints on different situations tomobilink. Mobilink interpret those complaints through controllingand maintaining process for desired result.

    f) Cards Rechargeable:Mobilink top up cards are available in

    market to provide credit to customers.

    Easy load facility is also provided to its

    customers.

    3) MANAGEMENT PROCESS:

    a) Hiring Employees: Mobilink hire its employees on professional skillsbasis which requires education, experience and skills.

    b) Promotion:

    Employees are promoted to higher places on theirperformance basis.

    c) Decision Making: Decision making is held with the departmentmanagers. Process is consulted with the supervisions andmanagers to takeout the desired results.

    4) MOBILINK CALL CENTER PROCESS:Mobilink has a call

    center named WTC in which: --- Calls are transferred Calls are retrieved Calls are sent Calls are tapped Calls are recorded for special purposes and etc.

    Entitlement ProcessEntitlement of car and fuel

    The company will buy or lease new cars as perentitlement of the employee from reputed car dealers. Companywill also be responsible for the insurance, car maintenance andannual taxes.Company shall maintain its pool cars under the supervision ofAdministration department for their maintenance and inspection.The pool cars will be inspected quarterly to analyze its conditionand the report will be submitted quarterly to the DirectorAdministrationThe employee will pay fuel or bills exceeding more than theprescribed limit.

    Entitlement of Mobile Phone Connections

    The Administration Department provides the one prepaidSIM and Rs. 1000 scratch card on the monthly basis to eachdriver/ outsourced service personnel assigned to Mobilink Duty.Only those outsourced personnel who would require being incontact with their Supervisors would be given a connection.

    Fixed Asset Process

    Purchase Requisition

    Administration department is the custodian of theorganizations asset. Administration department is supposed tocheck the requirement of the employees of the organization eitherthe requirement is genuine or not, Purchase Requisition is raisedin this regard.

    Purchase Order

    Purchase Order is the document, which ensures the job

    to be done and the payment of the done job. It is prepared on thebasis of the Purchase Requisition and the given quotation from thevendor.

    Delivery of Assets

    When the suppliers receive the purchase order, hell be

    responsible to deliver the asset to the PMCL*.Good Receiving NoteGood Receiving Note is the document, which is prepared at thetime of receiving the goods (physically).GRN* is duly signed by the Storekeeper and MangerAdministration. It is the responsibility of the storekeeper to fillGRN* with complete information at the time of receiving goods.

    Stock Code

    Maintaining a positive identification of assets is the primarypurpose of tagging/ putting the stock codes on asset.Generally, all fixed assets (capitalized and inventory) are tagged.The stock code number is entered in the asset record for the futuretracking of asset. The standard tag should be used to tag all fixedassetsStock Code is very useful while taking the stock of theorganizations asset. It is a sticker, which is put on the asset tokeep the track of the organizations asset (either office equipment

    or furniture and fixture).

    The storekeeper will be responsible for putting the stock code onthe asset and also keeps the track and record of the asset in theasset management sheet.

    Transfer of Asset

    An Asset Sheet (ATN*), is to be used in the transferringof all fixed assets between departments or from one location toanother location. It is the responsibility of the administrationdepartment to initiate the transfer of companys fixed asset otherthan technical.

    Regional Manager Administration is responsible for transfer theasset from one location to another. No asset will be moved fromone location to another, if there is no signature of the RegionalManager Administration on the ATN*.

    ASSET MANAGEMENT:

    Mobilink has approximate 5000 employees. Laptops, desktops,printer, scanner are given to them. Asset managers andsupervisors manage these assets according to the designation ofthe employees.

    Asset managers and supervisors update and assign these assets

    to the employees. Every asset in mobilink is stamped with thestock code and warrant and according to the stock code; theseassets are assigned to the employees. Stock it contains mainly of:-

    From the above processes we have chosen asset management fordata base management system to show that these assetsassigned to how many employees according to designation.

    assets are given to single employee so this query will tell us the asset info given toemployees.

    This is a simple query just to know the expiry dates of different warranties. Every

    asset has some warranty and this query will tell us when the warranties assigned to

    different assets are going to b expired.
