VISION
A premier learning
institution with
national and
international
recognition,
developing lifelong
learners and leaders
with competencies,
global perspectives,
and hearts of
service in a culture
of academic and
values excellence.
MISSION STATEMENT
We are committed
to provide quality
international
education through
the 5Cs:
Competence,
Character,
Commitment to
Achieve,
Collaboration and
Creativity.
We seek to develop
lifelong learners and
leaders.
We prepare learners
to respond to the
needs of the 21st
century.
Tour local, learn global. The
Eleventh Grade Valiant Knights took a tour
of Batangas City for their R.I.C.H. activity
last Monday, September 25.
The Senior High School students
joined the Provincial Government Officials
in their general morning assembly. The
students were able to observe the
commitment of the Government Officials
in participating in such routine activity
very early in the morning. Afterwards, they
got the chance to meet the Governor of
the Batangas Province in the person of
Hon. Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas.
Moreover, the students were assisted to
the Office of the Vice Governor where
they were oriented on the branches of the
Philippine Government and the system of
governance.
It was also a one of a kind
experience that the students had when
they were given an opportunity to
interview the Board Members of the
Batangas Province and to watch them
conduct a Plenary
The Senior High School Students and their mentors pose with Vice Governor Nash Ona (center) during their visit at the Batangas Provincial Capitol.
Session. This kind of opportunity gave the
students a lot of insights about the
procedures observed in Parliament.
After the meaningful visit in the
Batangas Provincial Capitol, the students
made their way to a local radio station for
some music and spirit boost. They met DJ
Reynats of 99.1 Spirit FM who taught them
how to record and edit radio commercials.
The students had a first hand experience of
recording radio commercials as they were
given the chance to integrate what they
learned in Oral Communication. They
recorded a sample script and created a
sample advertisement. DJ Reynats
commended Aitana De Chavez for being a
natural in recording because she seemed
relaxed and confident while on the job. In
addition to that, the Eleventh Graders were
also welcomed by a local news anchor of
Radio Totoo. He taught the students the
essentials in Journalism- collecting
information, making reliable news, and
reporting news with conviction.
The Eleventh Grade Valiant Knights conduct an interview with Board Member Arthur Blanco at the Plenary Session Hall, last September 25.

Career exploration is part of the school’s
commitment to equip the students with skills and
knowledge that will prepare them for the
university and the world of work.
The Junior High School and Senior High
school students attended the Career Exploration
Seminar last Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the
SSIS Main Hall.
The seminar aims to give the students
more options when choosing a career to pursue
or a course to enroll in college. Being able to
interact with successful people in different fields
informed the students of the skills they need to
possess, the preparations they need to make,
and the amount of effort that they need to exert
to excel in their chosen career or course.
Three speakers who are experts in the
fields of Accountancy, Business, and
Management (ABM), General Academic Strand
(GAS), and Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics (STEM) were invited to highlight
their experiences and expertise in different fields.
Mr. Raul Cunanan, a parent of one of our
Valiant Knights, talked about the ABM strand. He
also shared some tips on how to be an effective
businessman/ businesswoman in the future. The
experiences that he shared to the students are
supported by his reliable track record of being
into the trading industry, being the owner and
General Manager of Filra Trading and General
Services, and being the director of F1
Technomatrix Corporation.
On the otherhand, Dr. Normando
Napeñas, a Psychiatrist in Batangas City and a
professional with 41 year experience in the field of
medicine, emphasized the importance and benefits
of taking the STEM strand. He talked about the
growing need of the country for professionals in the
field of STEM. Thus, he gave importance to the
different careers that the students can choose from
in the said strand.
In addition to these experts is Mr. Nestor
Robles Jr. who is a graduate of Psychology in De La
Salle Lipa. He represented the General Academic
Strand (GAS) and gave the students insights on the
beauty of the field of education. Mr. Robles, at
present, is an instructor of Philosophy, Christian
Living, and Psychology at the De La Salle Lipa.
The Junior and Senior High School students
need guidance in choosing the path that they need
to travel when they leave the comforts of the school
and their homes. Thus, rubbing their shoulders with
successful figures will help them grasp the meat of
what a person actually does in his or her chosen
profession.
All ears! Mr. Raul Cunanan emphasizes to the students during the Career Exploration Seminar last September 23, 2017 that they could achieve more if they will dream big.

OF THE WEEK
Gratitude is one of the trickiest concepts to the students, but is
one of the most important. Sure, thankful children are more polite and
pleasant to be around, but there's more to it than that. By learning
gratitude, they become sensitive to the feelings of others, developing
empathy and other life skills along the way, says Barbara Lewis, author of
What Do You Stand For? (Free Spirit Publishing, 2005). Grateful students
look outside their one-person universe and understand that their parents
and other people do things for them.
Indeed, instilling grateful feelings now will benefit your child later
in life. A 2003 study at the University of California at Davis showed that
grateful people report higher levels of happiness and optimism -- along
with lower levels of depression and stress.
A very good way to teach and show appreciation to your
children is the timely celebration of the World Teachers’ Day. A teacher
isn’t just an instructor. He or she is a mentor, a guide, a counselor, a
protector and a large part of the community the students need to grow
up grandly. This October 5, help your children show appreciation to their
teacher without breaking the bank.
The following are the simple, yet the most memorable ways on
how the children can show their appreciation to their teachers:
1. Encourage them to write a letter to their teachers.
Let them tell their teachers how much they have meant to them
this year. Include what their favorite memory of the class was or
something the teachers did to help them become better people.
2. Make a simple video for the teachers.
Are your children more of visual learners/ students? Most smart
phones have nice video cameras and there are a lot of easy editing
softwares. Encourage your child to write, direct and star in his or her own
movie depicting a favorite lesson or funny moment in class. Your child
can also invite his or her friends to play themselves in the movie. Or just let
them sit down, hit record and film themselves telling their teacher why
they mean so much to them.
Whatever it is that your child will do to express their gratitude to
their teachers, nothing will come close to the love and care that they
have for them. Together, let us instill to the students’ minds and hearts the
value of gratitude.
