Goals
• Provide fish passage for adult steelhead and salmon to migrate through the flood control channel to Alameda Creek
• Provide fish passage for smolts and kelts to migrate to the bay
• Maintain the beneficial uses of the flood control channel (flood protection, water supply, groundwater percolation, recreation)
• Be mindful of the economic impacts to our customers

Flood Control Channel Hydrologic Conditions
• Summer – Flows off the watershed are approximately 10‐15 cfs, ACWD imports are 10‐35 cfs
• Winter– Flows are flashy (rise and recede quickly, within hours)

Rubber Dam / Diversion Operations
• Storm Event– Critical stream flow Qc is determined; typically between 700 cfs and 1200 cfs
– Monitor flows at Arroyo de la Laguna at Verona and Alameda Creek at the Welch Gage
– Diversions are closed
– Dams are deflated
– Dams remain down for a minimum of 24 hours

• Accommodates targeted life stage – in migrant adult steelhead and salmon
