Enrolment forms are available to print from our website at bankstownn-p.schools.nsw.edu.au or from the front office. Please pass this information on to any family, friends and neighbours who are looking to enrol their child in Kindergarten next year. Accepting Enrolments Years 1 to Year 6 Bankstown North Public School is now accepting enrolments for all classes Year 1 to Year 6 for 2021. Holiday Fun Want to do something more exciting than watching TV or playing on the internet these holidays?

Why not try: • Getting involved in a local or backyard sport with

friends

• Drawing and painting

• Playing board games

• Start learning a musical instrument

• Help in the garden – maybe your child could have part of the garden as their own

• Help to organise a family get together Take charge of your holidays in advance by making lists of things to do and setting aside some time each day for them – nothing creates stress like last minute shopping

and preparation. When entertaining children, one activity each day will keep them excited.

Encouraging Literacy Skills at Home Let your child help you write shopping lists. This is a great way to get them reading words that don't always come from a storybook. Children can help you read recipes and then write out lists of items you need and link names to products that you point out in the refrigerator or the pantry cupboard. More ideas at:

Reading with children is fun and one of the best ways to help prepare them for school. Tip: Try not to let television intrude on reading time - set aside some uninterrupted time to read with your child. Thank you for your continued support and I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and we look forward to working with you all again in Term 3. Jon Godwin - Principal ICAS Assessments ICAS Assessments are now online, a move that reflects a sector-wide transition to computer-based assessments. This allows greater accessibility for students and faster delivery of results.

ICAS fees are to be paid directly online to UNSW Global, not to the school. Visit the online Parent Payment System to make a direct payment to UNSW Global.

Parents can access the online payment service by typing unsw.global/parentpay into a browser. Parents will also require a unique access code to purchase assessments. Our school’s unique access code is: UOW932. Competition dates are as follows for Years 2-6:

Subject Test Date Cost

Science Yrs 2-6 Monday 17 August 2020 $15.95

English Yrs 2-6 Monday 24 August 2020 $15.95

Mathematics Yrs 2-6 Monday 31 August 2020 $15.95

The official closing dates for registering students is 26 July 2020.

Late applications will not be accepted.

Exciting Canteen News !! Online Canteen Ordering

COming term 3 We are excited to confirm the introduction of a new online ordering

system called Flexischools, which will commence in Term 3, Tuesday 21 July 2020.

Place all your school orders online with Flexischools.

Flexischools is a well established organisation allowing you to easily place

all your canteen orders online at any time.

Download the Flexischools app from the App Store or Google Play (www.flexischools.com.au/mobile-app) for details on how

to set up your account.

Once registered, you can start placing orders immediately. If you have any questions, please contact the school canteen or the

Flexischools Customer Service Team on 1300 361 769, or you can contact them via their website flexischools.com.au

Each order will attract a 30 cent surcharge so to help you with this:

• Order a week’s worth of lunches on one order (if your child is away, please call the canteen on 9709 5506 before 9.00am and a refund or credit will be noted)

• Order lunch and afternoon break snacks on one order

Please note: • Siblings must have their own order • Orders must be done before 9.00am on the day lunch is needed

We hope this step forward will support families with a more

convenient and efficient process of placing canteen orders.

Canteen will be operating as usual from Term 3

Multicultural Public Speaking Competition

Last Tuesday and Thursday, we held our Multicultural Public Speaking Competition in the hall. The competitors

were two speakers from each class from Years 3-6. All of the students spoke extremely well, with well researched

topics relating to multiculturalism.

Thank you to Mrs Papadakis, Mrs Hatfield and Mrs Oros who were our adjudicators on the day. It was not an easy job to choose four winners because all speakers delivered

their speeches so confidently.

Congratulations to our four winners who will represent our school at the District Public Speaking Competition

and details will be told later.

Stage 2 winners - Thuy V and Dakshin S Stage 3 winners - Amara M and Yasmin T

2 Blue Class Chatter

COVID 19 is not stopping 2 Blue from having fun in learning. Every week, we are excited to have our Songroom lesson with

Uncle Shannon on Zoom. He taught us how to draw a penguin, an eagle, and a serpent through his awesome

Dreamtime storytelling.

newsletter and student reports are communicated to our parents. There has been an update of the app, so some parents may need to re-install. If you are not on the app,

please download as soon as possible, as school reports for your children will be available early next term. Letters were sent home last week with instructions, but If you are unsure

how to do this, please see our front office or ring on 9709 5506.
