3. “Big” Student Clubs1. “Start-Ups” 2. Student Clubs
• Long-running, well-established Clubs. “Guaranteed” Interest Year-to-Year
• Large Annual Events: Forums, Case Competitions, etc.
• “Reinvent the Wheel” every year.
• Student Interest Groups, Cultural Organizations, and Industry Verticals.
• Leadership Opportunities, Bring Value to MBA life.
• Have trouble finding an audience for events.
• “Ups-and-Downs” year-to-year
• Ideas and Initiatives that come up each year
• At the core of the Babson MBA!
• But the GSC fund hasn’t done anything to support these in the past
• Only “Start a Club” and that isn’t the answer.
• How to facilitate this?!
• Goal: make money available to all students, not just student clubs.
• Trial Run this year with the “Auxiliary Fund.”
• Kept a % of the Student Activities budget out of established clubs, and made available for any MBA Students to use for new initiatives.
• Formalizing this, and working with GSA and the next GSC to better support it moving forwards.
