Course Description: This course is a survey of dance history, theory, and practice from its earliest roots through the Romantic Era. The course begins with a global perspective of dance then follows a chronology of western thealrical dan..:e, primarily the history of ballet. Additional dance issues/ideas arc explored through rcadir1gs from primary and secondary sources, group discussion, video, guest lecturers, and dance activity.
