Thank you for all your support today with fund raising for the Aus-tralian charity WIRE – it was great to see so many children in gold and green. I will be sending the monies raised to Mrs Cripps-Thomas at KRS to add to their fund raising and will let you know how much we raised between the two schools next week. This week our assembly continued to focus on resilience and we linked it to our term’s theme of ‘We Are Scientists’ by looking at the life of Louis Pasteur. We found out about how he persevered to find a cure for anthrax and created the first vaccinations including one for rabies. All the children were able to understand how this is still used today following their nasal flu vaccine last term and how we still pasteurise milk to kill harmful germs today. This taught us that one trait of resilience is the ability to be able to look at things from a different way to find solutions to problems, which is what scientists do! I was very proud of the children from Mr Ainley’s Taekwondo club for their amazing achievements in their recent grading and the confi-dence that they showed in their demonstration in assembly today – Well done! Have a lovely weekend.

It has been brought to our attention again that parents are parking in unauthorised areas in the car park.

We respectfully request that you do not park anywhere within the bus pick

up areas or on the crossings.

Please note that the drop off zones are for drop off only and should not be parked in. This avoids the need to reverse out.

We would be grateful if you would park only in the marked bays in the public

area, (not in the staff car park), and that you do not drive the wrong way around the car park as this has resulted in a few near misses.

I’m sure you’ll agree that the safety of our children is paramount.

For your information—Cycling Safety Following a recent Health & Safety brief, we have been advised that the wearing of safety helmets whilst riding bikes or scooters is now MANADTORY. Please ensure that your children have safety helmets if they are riding or scooting to school. When using scooters, pavements can be used for safety but you must give way to pedestrians. Also, if children are riding at night please ensure that they have lights on their bikes, and are wearing reflective items so that they can be seen more easily. Examples are shown below.

As the weather is changing and getting colder, it has been noticed that children are wearing hoodies/cardigans etc to school. Can we remind parents that whilst children are able to wear these items to and from

school, they need to wear school uniform whilst in school.
