  • Early Release of Students If your student has an appointment or is being picked up during the school day, the appropriate procedure is to come to the school office and sign your student out. The office will call your student out of class to the office when parents are present to sign them out. The office cannot call students down beforehand. Notification of PCS for students Please notify the office if you are PCSing. If you do not have a final day of attendance but know the time frame of the PCS please let us know anyway as soon as possible, so we can add your child/ren to the departure list, inform teachers, and start the preparation process. We will however eventually need a copy of the sponsor’s PCS orders and an actual final date of attendance. A complete set of your children’s records will be prepared for hand carrying. Records will need to be signed for and picked up by parents on that final day of attendance between 1200-1600. Lunch Menu Parents are always welcome to join their students for lunch. Sure Start/KN National School Breakfast

    Week

The first week in March celebrates School Breakfast. It is a proven fact that students of all ages are more receptive to learning if they start the day with a

good meal. Many schools offer Breakfast in the Classroom to ensure students are fed and ready to learn.

Other schools offer a la carte breakfast meals before the school day starts. No matter the source of your breakfast, you should ALWAYS eat something. Simple meals are the best – whole grain cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter sandwich, string

cheese, low fat milk, fresh fruit.

    National Nutrition Month®

National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign

created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

(AND). The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed

food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

Because more than 34% of the world population are overweight or obese, building healthier lifestyle choices

through decreasing overall calories, eating more plant-based foods, and

including daily physical activity should be taught in all schools. The new USDA

Nutrition Guidelines for School Meals ensures breakfast and lunch meals in

our schools helps to encourage making informed food choices to promote

    overall health.
