State Level Best NSS Volunteer Award For the second time in a row a student of AEC has won a state award for services rendered as part of NSS. Mr T Raghavendra f ro m f o u r t h ye a r B .Te c h Mechanical Engineering was presented with State Level Best Vo l u n t e e r Aw a r d u n d e r National Service Scheme (NSS) for the academic year 2014-15 by the State NSS Cell, Department o f H i g h e r e d u c a t i o n , Government of Telangana.

International Peace Day Celebrations The college has celebrated International Day of Peace on 23rd September 2015 organised by the Festivities Committee. The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on 21st September. It is dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and violence, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone for humanitarian

aid access. The day was first celebrated in 1982, and is kept by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples. In 2013, for the first time, the Day was dedicated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to peace education, the key preventive means to reduce war sustainably.

Bakrid Celebrations

The college for the first time has celebrated Eid al-Adha, also called the Feast of Sacrifice or Bakr-Eid on 24.09.2015, which is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. The celebrations were organised by the Festivities Committee. As part of the celebrations, Dr. U M Chaudhary, Dean Academics, and Mr. Eashan Adil, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering department, have explained the importance of the festival to the audience which included students and staff from all religions. Kheer was distributed to all the audience at the end of the event. Mr. J Srikanth, Principal, has conveyed his wishes to all the members of the Muslim community and thanks to everyone.

As part of the celebrations students and staff have spoken about the prominence of the day and a human chain was formed with more than five hundred members. As a symbol of peace, two pigeons were released into the wild and all the students and staff have taken a pledge for peace.

Release of Posters for Sangama and Pallavi The college is organising its National Level Technical Fest, Sangama, and National Level Cultural Fest, Pallavi on 7th and 8th of October 2015 respectively. These events are organised annually by the college and a large number of participants take part and win prizes by exhibiting their technical and non-technical skills. The posters for the current year’s events were launched in this week by the Principal, Deans, and Heads of the Departments along with the Student Activity Committee in the presence of all the students and staff of the college.

Vinayaka Chaturthi Celebrations It is a tradition at Aurora’s Engineering College, Bhongir, to celebrate Vinayaka Chaturthi every year on campus by installing a Ganesh Idol and performing Puja for nine days. The college has installed a Eco-Friendly Clay Ganesh Idol this year on 17th September 2015 and puja was performed by different departments each day along with staff and students. The idol was immersed after nine days of puja on 26th September

2015 and annadanam was organised by some staff to all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The celebrations were organised by the non-teaching staff Mr. Surendar, Mr. Laxman and Mr. Pandu under the Festivities Committee.

Flashmob for Sangama and Pallavi A flashmob was performed in the college on 23rd September 2015 by around forty students forming a team from all the engineering departments in order to promote the events Sangama, and Pallavi, and also to provide awareness on importance of protecting our environment with a Go Green campaign in support of the Telangana Government’s Haritha Haram Project.

The team was also visiting various other colleges in the state of Telangana for the same cause and will be completing their campaign by the end of next week, i.e. 03.10.2015. The photographs of the team performing at ASTI, Ghatkesar, and handing over posters and saplings at VBIT can be seen above.

Cricket Champions and Runners in Running and Singing at Naipunya 2015 organised by ABVP

The college cricket team has won the Cricket cup at Naipunya 2015, a district-level sports championship organised by ABVP at Nalgonda under the leadership of Mr. Gopala

Krishna, Captain of the team, and under the guidance of Mr. J Ravinder, Physical Director, AEC, on 16th September 2015. The team has competed with other teams from engineering and pharmacy colleges from the Nalgonda District.

Mr. Gopala Krishna, studying B.Tech in Civil Engineering and also a captain of the cricket team, has also participated in r u n n i n g a n d s i n g i n g co m p e t i t i o n s

and won second prize in both the events. All the students and staff of the college have congratulated the entire team for their exemplary performance

Bhargav B Sairam, Winner of Four Medals at BITS, Pilani Mr. Bhargav B Sairam, from third year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, was sponsored from the college for participating in BOSM - 2015, a national level sports meet, organised by BITS, Pilani in Rajasthan from 18th to 22nd September 2015. He has won four medals, Silver medal for 5KM Marathon, Bronze for 800m Running, Bronze for 5KM running, and another Bronze medal for 3KM running. He was the only participant at BITS, Pilani to have won four medals in the event.

He had also won a Bronze medal at in Telangana State Inter-District Championships organised at Warangal on 15th September 2015. The Principal, staff, and students have congratulated Mr. Bhargav B Sairam and wished him to continue his excellent performance in the upcoming sports events and aim for a gold medal at State and National level.

Sutherland Global Services Placement Drive Sutherland Global Services Placement Drive was conducted by the Placement Cell on campus for B.Tech final year students of all branches. The first round was conducted on 19th of September 2015 and 108 students out of 260 students were shortlisted for the final round. Telephonic round was conducted as a final round for the shortlisted students on 24th, and 26th of September 2015 and the results are awaited.
