Build capacity & Build cities together with Local AuthoritiesLocal authority is the heart of city and provides many services to the community.

Authoritydedicates tomake abetter living condition of citizen.They carry out and

problemsand challengeswhileon thisprocess.Managing the citizenwaste isoneof

hugeproblemandLocalauthoritiesexpendhugeamountforthispurpose.

Mangecitywastehasmanystrategiescompostingisoneofstrategyusedinwiderange.

this

much

because

people

had

to

wait

more

timetogetmorebenefits.DuringlastfewyearsHELPOintroduceduniqueprogramin

citylevelthatwecalledBiogasProgram.Itisnotimplementingorconstructionbiogas

unitwehavedeveloped the strategyandappliedmanyplaceswithoutanyproblem.

The latest status of the program is implementing city level program to zero waste

conceptbybuildcapacityoflocalauthority.TheProcessisan integratedprocesswith

multistakeholders.

Help to see the world through humanityHELPOPeoplesMovement is always trying to carry out sustainable

programstothevillagecommunityindifferentways.Withinthemonth

ofAugusttwoofourbranchesofpeoplesmovementarrangeaspecial

program for their members. Through the help of Gimsara optical

Walawwaththa&Aththiligodabranchesarrange this specialeye clinic

fortheirbranchmemberswithfreeofchange.

By taking the advantage of this program members as well as non

membersofthebranchcametochecktheireyeproblemsduringtheday.

Manyofthemappreciatedtheprogrammuchastheyallcouldgetaware

about their eye problems from this opportunity. Thosewho couldnt

show their eyes due to disability of paying the consultancy fee got

benefitedmuchbythisprogram.

Someof themwereaware tousespectacles&as theyweremuchpoor

community itwasdifficult for them topayabigamountofmoneyat

once for this. Itdiscussed inbranchmeetings& theydecided togive

interestfreeloanfromthebranchfortheirmembers.Branchesadmired

by the community much because of this great work & around 84

spectaclesdisbursed in this loanbased system.Before themembersof

peoplesmovementwasnotallowedtoorganizesuchtypeofprograms.

Butinpresenttheyaretakingtheopportunitytodosomespecialforall

thecommunitytomakethemabetterlifethroughthehelpoffinancial&

nonfinancialside.

Effort to encourage our blooming starsPeoplesMovement isalways trying todosomespecialfor the

community always& them trying to reach not onlymembers

butalso theirallfamilymembers.Gradefivescholarshipexam

results cameonduring the lastSeptember 2011. Itwashappy
