TH27 NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MIND-BODY MEDICINE - A REPORT

th27 National Conference on Mind-Body Medicine, held on 27-30 July 2012 at Academy for a Better World, Brahma Kumaris Gyan Sarovar, Mount Abu was the first of its kind in the history of Medical Wing.

The conference brought together over 750 medical professionals from all over the country and abroad (Nepal and Oman). It aimed at the integration of spirituality in healthcare, to learn from one another and to share their experiences. The delegates included state health directors, principals/deans/professors of medical colleges, medical association officials of national and state levels, super specialists and senior medical professionals.

The conference structured around spiritual lectures, mind management presentations and panel discussions by experts in Mind-Body Medicine allowing the participants to get a detailed understanding of the subject. A special dialogue between BK Shivani and Dr. Ashok Mehta provided interesting insights into the role of Karma, goal of human life and how spirituality can be integrated to help healing in varying contexts.

Feedback of the conference was very positive – participants greatly enjoyed the chance to meet like-minded people, the opportunity to meet their classmates or colleagues after 20 or 30 years, to learn from one another, and the chance to explore the knowledge imparted by Brahma Kumaris.

Every delegate felt free and homely. In addition to making new friends and contacts, all the delegates were enriched by the deep understanding of the self, the supreme, karma philosophy and time cycle; they promised to contribute to rebuilding heaven on earth.

Everyone involved in organising the conference deserves appreciation for making the conference a grand success and a memorable occasion. A number of meetings were held at Brahma Kumaris Shantivan, Abu Road and Global Hospital & Research Centre, Mount Abu to plan the conference. The Medical Wing Office worked overtime to draw up a list of invitees, co-ordinating with BK centres all over the country and integrating an online registration first time for the conference. A total of 5152 emails were handled by the organisers and more than 500 personal invitations were sent.

The one way to change others is to deal with them with love. 4
