Pool Committee UpdateBy Greg Martinez

for that purpose. To obtain a copy of this procedure and the release forms, please contact Bob Nardo at Goodwin Management (see what I mean about Bob getting more work?). These releases must be in place whether you use your own instructor or one of the instructors offered by Family Swim Gym (our pool management company). This will also allow Bob to update a master schedule and file of swim instructors and lesson times. REMEMBER - no one can reserve any part of the pool, not even for a swimming lesson, and children must take a 10 minute break during adult swim (so a 1 hour lesson can really only last 50 minutes for children). Make sure to plan accordingly with your instructor. A BIG THANKS also to Rich Horton (SCOA VP and pool committee member) for his tireless research and development of this procedure. It was a monumental task which got done quickly and expertly. Thanks again Rich!! If we can answer any questions, help resolve any concerns, or if you would like to volunteer for the pool committee, please contact any of the members of the pool committee or the board. Always remember...Who’s the boss? The lifeguards are boss - that’s correct! Please do as they request always and immediately, and let us know of any concerns you might have. See you at the pool...

Hi again all, We hope you all are enjoying the pool as much as we are this summer. We have had plenty of GREAT swimming weather. Your pool committee has been busy with lots of little projects since I last updated you. Have you noticed:

new toilet paper dispensers (easier to deal with when you are wet)fixed pool lightspruned trees in the pool areatrash cans moved from the front entrance

We have a number of major projects being discussed for the off season which are too large to take on during the swim season. More on those later. A BIG THANKS to Bob Nardo, our property manager, for seeing all of the above projects and many others to completion in a fast and professional manner. We, as a community, put a lot on Bob’s shoulders and he gets things done as fast as we pass them his way. We are very lucky to have him on our team. We also have a newly adopted procedure and release forms for private swim instruction to be held at the Stone Canyon pool. We have been educated this season that a number of residents have invited their own swim instructors to teach them at our pool. Quality swim instruction is great from whichever source you use, but we need to keep the lawyers at bay so this procedure was put in place this year

Just a little friendly reminder. Please remember that all pets must be on a leash when

not in your fenced yard. It seems that we have had a few stray cats drop litters in a resident’s yard. If you are the owner of an outdoor cat, please

consider having your pet spayed or neutered. Helpful info…

Stone Canyon Recently a Stone Canyon Family was a victim of repeated vandalism and a hate crime. The vandalism included repeatedly egging their home and putting a swastika on their car. Additionally, two Swastikas were seen on neighborhood mailboxes. Two teenage boys were arrested for the crime and the incidents have ceased. Many of the incidents occurred between 12 and 4 AM when the teenagers should have been at home supervised by their parents. This type of crime goes beyond a simple a teenage prank and should never occur in our neighborhood. It is important that we all keep a vigilant eye on our neighborhood and teenagers should not be out past twelve o’clock unsupervised.
