1. Overview of operations

Collection of used tyres and processing into rubber crumb.

The aim of the business at this facility is to recycle approximately 20,000 end of life tyres per annum

which equates to 600 tonne of reusable crumb annually. The crumb (our product) has two main

uses:

- Use in bitumen and asphalt mix

- Use in soft fall play areas and sporting complexes

The expectation would be to have no more than 100 whole tyres on the premises at any stage and

up to 10 tonne of crumb.

The machinery weighs approximately 10 tonne and can recycle up to 20,000 end of life tyres per

annum (design capacity).

The machinery installed is:

- XKP-450 Rubber Crushing Machine

- 2 conveyor belts: BCL-8 and BCL-3

- 2 magnetic separator conveyors: BMS-22 and SMS-1

- 2 Shaker screens: BSS-8 and SSS-3

- Fibre Separator: FS110

Operational hours are from 6am to 4pm Monday to Saturday excluding public holidays.

There are 3 full time employees in the business and 2 labourers.

The machinery has been installed and is presently being tested and optimised. Machinery was

delivered to site in February 2020.

3. Key Infrastructure and equipment

Key Infrastructure was delivered to site in Feb 2020. Since that date we have been building, testing

and adjusting the machinery to attempt to get it working correctly. The Infrastructure was imported

from China and as such has been largely taken apart and rebuilt with replacing some parts.

The key machinery/infrastructure/equipment installed is:

- XKP-450 Rubber Crushing Machine

- 2 conveyor belts: BCL-8 and BCL-3

- 2 magnetic separator conveyors: BMS-22 and SMS-1

- 2 Shaker screens: BSS-8 and SSS-3

- Fiber Separator: FS110

Ancillary equipment used on site is:

- Ring (Wall) Cutter YQ-1200

- Strip Cutter QT-1200

- Wire removing cutter FL-1200

- Small Truck

- Fork Lift

- Various tools and ancillary equipment equivalent to a mechanics workshop

4. Description of processes or operations (a process flow chart

We plan on creating an efficient operation where end of life tyres are processed on a daily basis to

reduce the need for stockpiling end of life tyres. This ensures we should only ever have between 50

and 100 end of life tyres on site at any time.

Tyre receival

End of Life tyres are received through the front gate. We have a small truck that is capable of

collecting 18 end of life tyres in a trip.

Tyre Storage

Tyre are to be stored on pallets in a Stack configuration.

Using pallets they are easily transportable. Example of portable system below.

Tyres will then be stored in the facility as shown below.

Storage to Processing

Storage will be for no more than 2 business days. The aim is to efficiently deal with the end of life

tyres and we will be collecting more end of life tyres on a daily basis. The end of life tyres will be

coming from local truck repair business and truck tyre changing businesses. The facility is only built

to process up to 100 tyres a day and store up to 100 tyres.

Tyre Processing – Recycling end of life Tyres.

The following processes are involved in recycling an end of life tyre.

1. Tyre is received into yard and placed on storage pallet.

2. Tyre is taken from Storage Pallet to remove one wall of the tyre. The Ring (Wall) Cutter is

used to remove the wall of the tyre. The tyre is placed on the ring cutter and the tyre is

locked in placed. The tyre then spins and the cutting blade is placed on the wall of the tyre.

This removes one wall of the tyre to enable it to be placed on the strip cutter.

3. The tyre is then placed on a strip cutter which cuts the tyre into a long strip approximately

50mm wide.

4. The strip of tyre is then put through the block cutter. This cuts the strip into 20mm pieces.

5. The blocks of rubber are then placed on a conveyor which then drops the blocks into the

Rubber Crusher Machine.

6. The Rubber crusher machine circulates the blocks around its conveyor, through the crusher,

and along the shaker table. This separates the rubber from the steel and reduces the size of

the rubber. The crushing component consists of two large barrels 450mm x 800mm which

squeeze the rubber between them.

7. During this circular process magnetic conveyors remove the steel. Steel is then sent to SIMS

metals for recycling.

8. Rubber which is small enough drops through the shaker table which is our product – Crumb

rubber.

9. This rubber crumb then runs along another conveyor into a fibre separator which removes

any fibre from the product leaving our finished product.

10. Our finished product is then bagged into one cubic metre bags which will be transported to

our customers.

The product we generate: Rubber Crumb

There are two products that we generate from the process:

1. 0.6mm crumb. The specifications of this are set by Main Roads WA. This is used in bitumen

and asphalt mixes and is used in most new roads that are controlled by Main Roads WA.

Likely customers would be Fulton Hogan, Sami, Boral, Bitumous Products etc.

2. 3mm crumb. This is used in soft fall playgrounds at parks and in sporting centres.

Onsite storage of each product is minimal as it is made to order. We would be making deliveries of

the product weekly to twice weekly.

5. Emission/discharge points

There are no emissions from our process.

Also attached is our environment policy and environment management system. See attachments 3A-1 and 3A-2.

General Waste

General waste management is in line with any other business. We only have need for council bins for waste. The output

from our process is 100% recycled.

Lidded council bins for general waste from the office and lunchrooms are stored in the yard as shown above.

Stormwater management

Location of the sump is below the drain in the centre of the yard. It is an infiltration sump. We have a spill management kit

which is kept on shelf near the roller door which is a bag that is placed over the drain and filters out any carbon-based

liquid.

6. locations of waste storage or disposal

The process generates output which is all recycled. Steel will be recycled by a third party. Nylon will be recycled by a third

party. General waste is stored in council bins and consists of office and lunchroom waste predominantly.

Council bins are stored in the yard just outside the building.
