Flooding and high winds battered the JerseyShore on Saturday, threatening coastal communi-ties that are still recovering from the devastationwrought by superstorm Sandy three years ago. Atleast one person in the region died in the storm thisweekend.
Stacey Weathers, 46, of Tinton Falls, was killedwhen a tree fell on her convertible Ford Mustang asshe drove south on Route 34, said Colts Neck PoliceChief Kevin A. Sauter. Weathers was pronounceddead at the scene at 4:41 p.m. Saturday. The crashoccurred about 15 minutes earlier, when the treefell from the northern side of the highway. Therewere no other occupants in the vehicle, Sauter said.
Across New Jersey, the storm had caused scat-tered power outages. About 3,600 utility customershad no service on Saturday afternoon. About 2inch-es of rain had fallen in most areas since Wednesday.Forecasters said another 1 to 2 inches was possibleby Sunday night.
