Argan oil is extracted from the fruit of the about 80 million years old Argan tree. This tree however, grows only in southwest Morocco. The local women collect the al-

mond-sized fruits then dry them before removing the bitter pulp to crack the hard-shelled nuts using two stones and reach the seeds.

To gain the oil, the seeds are pressed using a hand-driven stone-mill.
