What is the CMLI? The CMLI is a non-stock, non-profit organization of the youth, by the youth, which aims to cherish the youth and hopes to establish a

living museum and library. Found by the late Atty. Fernanda S. Balboa, better known as Mommy B, the Children’s Museum and Library,

Inc. aims to advocate the nourishment of the wellbeing of the Filipino youth.

Being existent for 55 years now, CMLI remains constant towards fulfilling its goal of contributing to the social, cultural, and intellectual

awareness of the youth. Through different seminars, symposia, exhibits, talent and academic competition and scholarship grants, the

CMLI continues to ignite its legacy, and continues to grow with its living museums as well.

As response to the various social phenomena that arise in our modern times, the institution spearheads socio-civic projects which aim

to lift social awareness amongst the youth and empower and enlighten them to do their part as responsive and responsible Filipino

citizens.

As desired by the institution, the awareness of the youth towards society is molded through several socio-civic projects. Thus, it sets the

trail for the Filipino youth’s initiative to do their share in responding to several social phenomena.

The CMLI, being a living museum and library, and as structured according to its mission, gathers outputs and artifacts from different

children. These works thereby construct an edifice made up of multitudes of youthful ideas. Memorabilia from well-known Filipinos that

were made when they were young are as well collected.

As the organization continuously exemplifies commitment and dedication in its endeavor to empower and produce responsive and

competent Filipino youth leaders, the Department of Education (DepEd), together with several business enterprises, non-government

organizations, government institutions, parents, public and private academic institutions constantly and continuously recognizes the

CMLI.

What is the JC-REB? The CMLI Junior Council- Regional Executive Board is the Junior Council’s youth arm that brings the ideals of the CMLI closer to its local chapters and ultimately,

to YOU, the young Filipino leader! Through the projects and efforts of the different JC-REB’s of the 8 CMLI regions, gaps are linked and bridges are made

between you and the CMLI. Through the dedicated and outstanding leaders that comprise the council, the JC-REB aims to reach the entirety of its specific

locality to spread the relevant and significant ideals of the CMLI amongst the Filipino youth.

CMLI MISSION-VISION

VISION

CMLI envisions producing morally upright student-leaders with values, and attitudes quipped with skills relevant to the demands of the

advancing Philippine society.

MISSION

CMLI is committed to empower the Filipino youth to become catalysts of relevant change in their school, community, and country

through leadership training, values formation, and talent development

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

1. Provide avenues to discover, develop, and motivate the Filipino youth into further honing their talents, critical thinking, creativity,

and leadership skills.

2. Train and inculcate love for country, respect for its ideals, culture, traditions and environment towards the attainment of Filipino

nationhood.

3. Foster national friendship and camaraderie among its members, schools, and organizations.

CORE VALUES

A CMLIer is:

Committed - Valuing and caring for the conditions of others and empowering them to respond to their needs by creating a culture of

accountability and integrity.

Multi-talented - Lifelong development of existing talents as well as the discovery of new ones.

Lover - Of God, of nation, and the society through unity and loyalty.

Innovative - In finding and sharing ways to promote social responsibility as citizens of the nation and of the world.

CMLIers value and care for others and empower them to respond to their needs by creating a culture of accountability and integrity

with a lifelong development of existing talents as well as the discovery of new ones. Central to this is the love of God, the nation, and

the society through the promotion of unity and loyalty by innovatively finding and sharing ways to promote social responsibility as

citizens of the nation and of the world.

A Child’s Knowledge

One vital element in youth is the Child’s Knowledge. It is one device that nurtures and breeds open-minded persons. Armed with the

right principles and understanding, youth leaders from around the nation are capable of toiling towards social development. Books,

likewise, is one field where human beings can harvest multitudes of knowledge, hence the child reading CMLI logo.

A Child’s Skill

Depicting a child’s skill, a boy at work is depicted in the logo. Joel Barker once said “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action

without vision just passes the time…” Clearly, this manifests that knowledge is not enough- it is static. Action and vision need to work

hand in hand to produce purposely results; so the quote finishes “…Vision with action can change the world”

The Wholeness of a Person

The Torch

T

Air, land, and water are manifested by an eagle, a crocodile and a

fish respectively. These fundamental elements, vastly different, portray

the diversity of knowledge and skill under a child’s possession. It is a

common belief in CMLI that learning is achieving overall

competence- in all aspects academically, culturally and spiritually.

With the logo’s background in darkness, the torch is the light to see all

things, like an overseer, the flame’s illumination on all elements in the

logo is an abstract representation of all its aspects in harmony. As

observed, the unity is most significant on a child’s knowledge and skill.

They must remain in accord with each other.

FOUR-POINT PROGRAM

LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND VALUES FORMATION

CMLI conducts various training seminars and conferences throughout the country. The activities organized by the members of the

Junior Council aim to develop leadership skills and proper values among the youngsters. Annual projects include the Summer

Conference and Work Camp, the Grade School Conference, and the Annual National Convention of Junior Members and Teacher

Advisers. Here, the experts share their knowledge and experience on leadership, character development, social issues, and responsible

citizenship.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT, VISUAL AND LITERARY ARTS

Everyone has a special talent. CMLI provides opportunities for the youth to develop their potentials. It sponsors talent and art contests

that encourage friendly competition and individual excellence.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP AND EDUCATION EXCHANGE

CMLI cares about kids from all parts of the world! It participates in international culture festivals, competitions, and conferences. It works

with institutions, such as the UNESCO, to promote peace, understanding and friendship among different people, especially children.

The foundation acts as the Philippines’ coordinator for various international and cultural exchange programs and the children’s art

festivals. Among these are the Annual World School Children’s Art Festival in Taipei, UNESCO art competitions, and the ASEAN Traveling

Exhibition of Children’s Art. Also, the CMLI Philippines Young Ambassadors of Goodwill program has sent young ambassadors abroad to

carry the message of goodwill and friendship to other countries.

MUSEUM, LIBRARY, AND PARK PROJECT

CMLI, as an institution, aspires to be a real library, museum, park, and theatre for, by and about children, especially the Filipino children.

Its Children’s Complex shall house artistic works of our talented youth, indigenous arts and crafts, and the children’s artifacts from all

over the world, educational materials, and memorabilia of famous Filipinos when they were young. Here, kids can meet, work together,

and develop their creative skills.

CHILDRENS’ DAY

The Childrens’ Day is a fun-filled day and outreach program with activities and games that will serve as a fun

learning experience for the children, and aims to impart with them the ideals of the CMLI.

GRADE JUAN

Originally from JC-REB Visayas, Grade Juan is an outreach program which aims to support schools that are greatly

in need of school supplies through donations.

SIGABO

Being held on its 5th Year, SIGABO is the flagship project of the JC-REB NCR which is an annual interschool

Sabayang Bigkas competition, for high school students in the NCR. This project aims to develop the youth’s talent

in literary and performing arts and promotes the love for the country’s culture.

MEDICAL MISSION

It will be a day of medical and dental missions for our less fortunate brothers and sisters, and will be followed by a

mass feeding program. This is to lessen the expenses of our co-citizens who can’t treat themselves from their

illnesses and cannot generate money to sustain and maintain their health.

REGIONAL CONGRESS

Basically, if the JC-NEB has their conventions, the REB, through the Regional Congress, will also have its congress,

composed of different high school students all over NCR. The congress will revolve around a certain theme and

will be filled with group dynamics, activities, and commission discussions that would help inculcate the ideals of

the CMLI and the theme to each one of the participants.

experience is a day full of learnings, new activities, new realizations, and a lot more. Going through a screening

prepare each and every one of you to a bright journey ahead. We, Dexter, Hiraya, Enzo, Fret, Sophie, JM, Rostum,

Marj, Gabbie, and Isaiah, are the current officers of the council. We are earnestly waiting for the people that will
